So much for the "jazz album". Trot out the wheelbarrow full of rappers. Maybe she can duet with Lil' Bow Wow. [Edited 11/1/04 15:16pm] heh. no shit. that's what i was going to say. maybe she'll call her album DamitaJo too ... "the album i wanted to be brazillian jazz but ended up being more of the same old lazy bullshit" Except Janet never publicized a jazz album. All her fans want her to do one though.

Not hyped for months in advance. Janet's always loved Brazilian jazz, though.

UMM?? How about we hear the album the first? Just because she is singing with rappers doesn't make her desperate it's her choice, there's lots of people out there who love her soul/hip hop sound. I think it was and IS a big musical risk she takes when she records such music because so many people are ready to shit on her for doing what she wants...if se wanted to play it safe she would make MUSIC BOX PART 2, so all y'all can be happy....to all you hatters make sure u check out Mariah's new track about u bitches "SHAKE 'EM OFF"

I heard that song she has with JadaKiss and I just shook my head. If her new cd is gonna be like this or her previous two cds (most likely it'll sound the same as them), then this my be the end of my contribution to Mariah. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

but c'mon...like other people pointed out, it's the same formula she's been using on her other cds that didn't get good reviews. So it's kinda obvious ppl. now know what to expect. We've heard Kanye,Neptunes,R. Kelly, N.O.R.E., Jermaine Dupri, produced songs before. Nothin's gonna change. And what is this...Snoops's 3rd appearance on one of her cds...wonder if that song's gonna sound any different than the other Snoop songs? looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

She's got an incredible voice.Too bad she wastes it on second-rate songs exactly. I didn't read your post, but mine sounds almost identical. oops looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

People, wasn't it reported last month that Mariah's album had wrapped up but then LA heard it, hated it and scrapped it. Now they're starting over.
I know I'm not the only one to hear that. Here let me get you a link. http://www.allhiphop.com/rumors/?ID=605 AllHIPHOP said Did L.A. Scrap Mariah's Album?
Sweet Friday October 15, 2004 Mariah Carey might not be as hot as when she first came out, but she’s still hotter than when she first came out. Does that make sense to you? Anyway, the word is MC was slated to release her new album this winter. Yeah, she’s a 4th Quarter diva. Anyway, she’s been doing her thing and recording on an island like she normally does. Upon finishing it she turned the finished product to Island Def Jam chief LA Reid. The rumor says Reid heard it and scrapped the project. He said everything gotta go - tracks, producers and songs. On to of it all – it’s been pushed back. Well let’s look at it like this, Reid has a great pop track record. We trust that he’s gonna pull Mariah through this slump. - allhiphop rumors Anyway, how can anything with all those collaborators be the best in Mariah's career?

[Edited 11/3/04 12:46pm] I HAVEN'T even heard the Ciara album??? I haven't even heard her first single yet, I think it must only be big in the states cause I have not heard of her here in europe. AND JC CHsez I think had an ok debut album, much better than Justins anyway (although JC looks like the dad from the "O.C".....and yes I have heard Mariah's material from the early nineties, If Mariah keep releasing material like that over and over she would be ...Celine Dion??? I much prefer a "Chrambraclet or Glitter over and Anne Geddes album ALA Celine

She just wouldn't be another bubble-headed pop star using popular high-profile people to sell records and reach out to young fans. Yeah, that's what all the female singers are doing now, but Mariah's vocals alone shouldn't have to depend on their star power. It's just the same predictable stuff you'd expect from her. Charmbraclet was exactly how I expected it to be, when I read who she was working with at that time, because she had worked with those same producers and rappers before. It'll probably be like two or three songs that are semi-reminiscent of her earlier work, just to please the fans that have supported her since the 90's. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

We hear this all the time before a Mariah album comes out. It's getting tired. True. This ranks right up there with other cliches including the "Rockstar bottoms out, has an epiphany, and reinvents himself/herself" saga...

Am I the only one who misses the days when artists used to go into the studio with only one producer or one production team? Remember Michael Jackson working with producer Quincy Jones? Or Aretha Frankin working with producer Luther Vandross? Or Donna Summer working with her reliable production duo of Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte? Or the Ojays working with Gamble and Huff? The albums flowed better and were more consistent.Nowadays, the typical big-budget R&B/pop album uses a ton of different producers, with too many cooks in the kitchen. It all sounds like a bloated, glossy, cluttered, overproduced mess.
Mariah should lock herself into a studio with only ONE great producer....how about Remy Shand? Spend a few months with him, working on genuinely soulful tracks. When 12 great songs are finished, release it as her next album.DO NOT call up any silly rappers to spoil the songs. It's true though..every album she releases these days is just a watered down rehash of the last..an experiment every now and then wouldn't hurt. She oughta hook up with Opeth.

With her love of different styles and willingness to re-record for remixes and affinity for collabos, I wonder why she doesn’t release music more frequently or put out a double disc set.
She should definitely do a disc of fully orchestrated material along the lines of The Wind and Subtle Invitation and then she can have a disc full of duets and collabos or something that leans more toward the hip hop flava she so loves to incorporate. Right now she just seems tuck in the same mode and I think she’s got more creativity in her in than what she’s been putting out or at least I want to believe it. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

this is my problem with many artists, especially the ones in the R&B field. They seem almost afraid to branch out and try something new.So they stick to their predictable formula of sample-heavy,glossy,over-produced,plastic-sounding R&B with the oh-so-exciting rap cameos.Basically, they're just making the same album over and over.
