I'm not sure exactly when I Want You To Want Me was released but it was their first major hit. Yeah, I still hear that on the radio too sometimes.

Other Cheap Trick goodies:

Gonna Raise Hell
Ain't That A Shame

and my favorite

Surrender

There are others, but my memory is growing dim. It must be my old age. Next thing you know, I'll have one foot in the grave.

Ahh, yes. We're turning into our parents. biggrin

But I think some of this is in part because some music fans are just casual music fans, not as serious as many of us who have a passion for it.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

LMAO!!
Well, at least I know I'm not alone in the "old soul" department. All my siblings and cousins are the same way. Our parents raised us on *their* music, so we learned to love it from a young age. I have an apreciation for many different genres. I love old school music and movies.
Michael never stopped!

I knew Joni Mitchell in person when she was just starting out (she used to play at a small club my friends and I ran~ around 1966~70) ~ and remember watching the actual live performance of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, and seeing Janis Joplin on stage at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit when no one knew who anyone was.(maybe 69 or 70) I'm older than dirt! But I work with teenagers and love hearing them talk about what is important to them ~ especially musically. My friends are of all ages and I am constanly learning from and occasionally teaching some with them all the time. Age truly is a state of mind.

Old school in the HOUSE! You actually SAW the Beatles on Ed Sullivan!?!? worship

Yes I did sweetie! They came to Detroit around the same time and my Dad wouldn't let me go ~ he thought they were complete EVIL. It was the last time I really listened to him about going to a concert ~ after missing that one I stopped asking him and just went!

They put 'I want you..." on the Budokan album 'cuz the Japanese audience loved that song, though the band themselves thought it was a throwaway! They really became big after that album, thanx to 'I want you..'.The album was intented for the Japanese market, but it became one of the most imported albums of that year..
I still love Cheap Trick.Remember:Dream police,just got back,ELO kiddies,Big eyes,hello there,the house is rockin',need your love...?Man they could write great songs!!

I got the DVD of the Beatles' first visit to the U.S.and it still amazes me!
They were great, just think about all the public/media attention they got and how they delt with that!(Nothing like that had ever happened before!)The 'stars' these days in music could learn a lot from these guys,e.g.how to stay normal while being that big...

it made me feel ancient when my 11 year old nephew told me that he listens to AC/DC, Ozzy, and Beastie Boys.

(nods head)

There's no way I'd be allowed to listen to stuff like that when I was his age, I only discovered Duran Duran and Prince when I was about 13.

Diana
Duranies rock on!!!!

horns I still treasure the Cheap Trick guitar pick that I got after Rick Nielsen threw it into the audience at a show I went to.
