Live Songs that are better than the original Good Live songs are a dime a dozen,
and sometimes you find live songs taht beat the hell out of the original some of my choices are Pink Floyd - Learning to fly, Delicate sound of thunder 85 Aerosmith - Dream On ,82 Prince - gotta broken heart again/strollin, One Nite alone Led Zepplin - Whole Lotta love/time unknown Frank Zappa and Sting - Murder By Numbers U2 - With Or without you U2 and Prince - The cross

I love most live music compared to studio stuff.
In fact, it's the only reason I'm a Prince fan. Before I heard his live stuff I just wasn't that into his music, then one boot and here I am on the Org. Favs include; Zep, P, Curtis Mayfield, Average White Band, Commodores

Prince's "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" from the 'Sign 'O' The Times' film--much better than the album version.
The Cure's "Disintegration" live from the "Pictures Of You" CD single--kicks the studio version in the ass. Siouxsie And The Banshees' "Paradise Place" from the live 'Nocturne' CD--much better than the studio version which is slower and lifeless.

The SOTT version is not really live (LOTS of overdubs.),sounds better than the origional,though..

There are two live versions of "Just My Imagination" by Prince. One of those versions doesn't make me want to listen to the Tempt's original. You know the one. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

All I can think of right now is Roxy Music's "Out Of The Blue" and Talking Heads' "Take Me To The River".
That reminds me, I wonder how Ednah Holt's doing. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

The Cure's "Disintegration" live from the "Pictures Of You" CD single--kicks the studio version in the ass. I'll agree with the Prince for sure. As much as I love the "Sign" album, half of those live versions are superior. But with "Disintegration" I have to disagree. I think it's their finest moment committed to tape.

I think it's their finest moment committed to tape. On the single there's a guitar riff in the forefront that's totally absent in the album version. It's also a little faster and rocks harder to me.

For me, Purple Rain was amazing live and perfectly fit for the giant stadium setting. Before that I could hardly stomach the song just playing it on my stereo at home.
