ANOTHER testimonial !!!! taken from the ONE-NAtion BBS

April 21st concert at UNI in Cedar Falls Iowa

I would rank them at the top of everyones must see list. George Clinton & Parliment played for just about 3 1/2 hours of straight up non-stop begining to end funk.

I would like to know who the young Lady in the red Japanese dress was. She has an unbelievable voice. She knows how to shake it also.

I have not really heard P Funk since my younger days of spinning discs at the local teen club back in the 70's. I am convinced that I have deprived myself too long. I have to restablish and reopen my mind to the great sound of Funk once more and realise that there still is One Nation under the Groove.

still more...

They really raised the roof. The concert was in a small gym. The sound was unbelievable. There was a couple of great guitar solo's. The young lady was awesome. We started singing "She's bad The girl's bad". over and over and then she strutted very slowly out in front and just wailed sweet sounds. Do you know who she is? One Nation kicked ass. Atomic Dog, one tune after the other. I have never seen one band perform for so long without missing a beat or taking a break. After they were spent and started tearing down nobody left. They were putting equipment away and the fans did not leave. We were chanting "We Want
The Funk" and stomping our feet three times for about 15 minutes before it was finally over. The roofs were raised in Iowa.

And for sure there aint no party like a P-Funk party cause a P-Funk party don't stop. There was an after show party a a local college bar.

As far as spinning discs, I grew up an Army Bratt. While my dad was stationed in Germany we had dances every friday and saturday night. I had a kick'en sound system back then so I got to DJ. Back then we called it "Soul". Ohio Players, Commodores,Earth Wind & Fire, O'Jays, Manhattens, and of course Parliament Bootsy and more. Wow those were some times.

I love Parliament/Funkadelic they are my all-time favourite group along with Earth, Wind and Fire. I got all their albums etc and my prized possesion is a vhs copy of the 1977 P-Funk Earth tour smile which I watched as many times as Purple Rain (about 79 times). Also being a hardcore funk fan I have 4 posters in my room that symbolise what funk means to me. They are of Jimi Hendrix, Prince, James Brown and Parliment. Those innovative artists that made funk what its suppose to be - Freedom to be who u are and do whatever! God bless them smile

UCLA Performing Arts Student Committee in co-production with UCLA Recreation
will present George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic on Saturday, May 11, at
UCLA's Sunset Canyon Amphitheater. GoodVibe Recordings/Ubiquity Records
artists Medusa and her eight-piece band, Feline Science, will open the evening at 5:30
p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Clinton is one of the most recognized masters of funk music and his collaborations with
numerous ensembles have gained him acclaim. He began his singing career with a
barbershop quartet in Plainfield, N.Y., and has since traveled around the globe. A
producer, vocalist and "proud papa" to his band members, Clinton chooses some of
the most talented performers in the field to comprise his ensemble of musicians.

Among Clinton's string of hits are some of the most identifiable examples of funk,
including "(I Just Wanna) Testify," "The Mothership Connection" and "Aquaboogie."
Over the past three decades, his performances have earned him an enormous
following of people who know and love pure funk.

Medusa's innovative blending of old-school funk with lyrical science is a performance
not to be missed. She is sometimes called the "Angela Davis of hip-hop" because of
her profound lyrics, trademark 'fro and Afrocentrism. Medusa and Feline Science
took home the 2001 LA Weekly award for "Hip-Hop Artist of the Year."

This event is produced by the UCLA Performing Arts Student Committee, student
division of the nationally recognized UCLA Performing Arts. This student
programming organization seeks to promote student awareness of and participation in
the performing arts by offering subsidized UCLA student tickets to all UCLA
Performing Arts events, and by producing events such as this one. Each year, the
committee presents a wide variety of on-campus shows in many genres, including
dance, free noontime concerts, performance art and spoken word.

General admission tickets to "Music and Dance on the Grass Featuring George Clinton
and Parliament/Funkadelic" are on sale now for $30 and $16 (full-time UCLA student
with valid I.D.). Tickets are available at the UCLA Central Ticket Office at the
southwest corner of James West Alumni Center and at all Ticketmaster outlets. For
more information or to charge by phone, call the UCLA Central Ticket Office at (310)
825-2101 or Ticketmaster at (213) 365-3500.

the UCLA Sunset Canyon Recreation Center. Parking is available in UCLA Lots SV
