edge from u2-he ever played decent guitar solo? u2 have some good songs but that edge guy is very disturbing.
all the time he playes one or two notes with lot of delay and feedbeck. is he for real. after you take down all of those effects , you got no guitar playing at all. he ever played guitar solo?

Solos aren't the only things that make a good guitar player. In fact, I think a lot of times soloing is just masturbatory showing off. But if you must hear a good solo, listen to "The Fly" from Achtung Baby.

I've always thought of him as just playing for the song.
If you had to classify him-he's a rhythm player first and foremost. (He also owns stock in a ski-cap company!)

the same could be said of Prince, to a lesser extent. there are (relatively) very few opportunities on his records to witness what a virtuoso he is on the instrument. "Awards are like hemorrhoids. Sooner or later, every asshole gets one."

eh, solos are usually incredible boring and just a lot of cock rock. a nice bluesy-rocky kinda solo will always get me wet though.

It was listening to U2 that got me playing the guitar myself, but since then I have to say I have heard a lot more talented/ interesting guitarists.
What Edge does fits in with U2, and he HAS done some great stuff (if you can get hold of a recording from the Lovetown tour, check out his bluesy solo for All Along The Watchtower - his finest moment, in my book), but.....he needs to just push himself a bit and do something DIFFERENT for once. Dosen't have to be a big wanky solo, just something that isn't two-note delay-pedal stuff - you know, different sounds/textures etc

I know people that absolutely adore The Edge, but I can't forget how he messed up the solo in Party Girl, live at red rocks...And Bono sings "He's our hero!..",followed by a lousy, false note solo!...

Heh heh He stuffed up the solo in Until The End Of The World when I saw them, too. Just one bum note, but MAN was it a howler!!

Aren't there enough soloists without the Edge doing it too?
What he does is practically create the whole sound of U2 through his technique. Check this song out at:
