WILD MOOD SWINGS - The Cure
For some reason, most Cure fans HATE this album. The problem is the sequencing, and the fact that several superior B-Sides were left off the record. Still, it has a lot of great classic Cure songs like "Want", "Jupiter Crash" and "The 13th" which is just demented and brilliant.

REVENGE - Eurythmics
Everybody thought Dave and Annie went off the deep end by doing a "rock" album, and it got some pretty savage reviews, but I thought it was (and still is) a great record. Lots of classic Eurythmics tunes, and Missionary Man still sounds fresh and rockin to this date.

STRANGE LITTLE GIRLS - Tori Amos
It's a shame this album has such a bad reputation. There are a couple weak tracks, but what an interesting project it is... generated lots of discussion when it came out. I think some of it really stands the test of time - Rattlesnakes and I Don't Like Mondays, in particular

PRESTO - Rush
Some people think Rush hit a low point in the mid-to-late-80's... and I agree they did with Hold Your Fire, but Presto brought them back in a huge way, in my opinion... although many Rush fans probably disagree. Presto was a return to the more guitar based rock they are loved for, but still merged w/ the more modern sound. Some great songs, like The Pass and Presto and Show Don't Tell. Really started Rush in the direction of the sound they have played for the last 10 to 15 years. And the new remastered version sounds GREAT.

LET'S DANCE - David Bowie.
Ya know... I always thought of this album as a sequal of sorts to Young Americans. They both have a very funky soulful feel.. Let's Dance has 3 classic Bowie singles, especially China Girl which is just so tense and perfect... (I love Iggy's version too). It's only poor track is "Shake It" which, frankly, is hideous. But most Bowie fans rank this album among his worst.

COME - Prince
A very quirky dark little strange record that just happens to have some of the finest Prince moments of the decade, especially "Pheromone" which still ranks in my Prince Top 10.

SILVER AND GOLD - Neil Young
I remember the reviews being rather cool when this came out.. and it's kindof a "forgotten" album in Neil's great catelogue, which is a true shame. This is a mostly acoustic album, and it has some real emotion and feeling, and some great great songs. Very quiet and melodic.. it is much better when the 3 songs that Neil did with CSNY for the Looking Forward album (But originally intended for S&G) are added back to the album. Slowpoke, Out of Control and Looking Forward - 3 beautiful songs.

HYSTERIA - Human League
The Lebanon is fabulously cheesy now, but it sounded so cool to me back in the day... same with the rest of this album... i know in my mind it's utter crap, but for nostalgic reasons... and just because it's such GOOD utter crap.... I play this record frequently biggrin

Joni Mitchell - Don Juan's Reckless Daughter

Beastie Boys - Pauls Boutique - it's hailed as a classic now, but I was diggin' this when it first dropped and nobody was feelig it

Jay Z - BluePrint 2 - it's not the album that part one is, but listen to it again, it has some gems on there

De La Soul - Stakes Is High (I don't know if everyone hates this one, but it doesn't get nearly the recognition 3 Feet High gets, and IMO this project is much better. Personally, I feel this is as good as it gets with De La)

Digable Planets - Blowout Comb (Very slept on; check namepeace's avatar for cover information smile)

Prince - Come (My favorite Prince/prince release of the 90s)

Spice Girls - Forever (So sue me, I like this one -- I still bump this one in the car every so often)

I think this album is great. I was just listening to it last night. You're right about the used bin, though. This is the Pink album that none of her fans want.

I return to her latest the most. My faves include "Walk Away," "Tonight's The Night," "Humble Neighborhoods," "Oh My God (feat. Peaches)" and "Try Too Hard." It's very rock-oriented, so I think that turned a lot of heads off -- especially the R&B junkies that dug her debut. M!ssundaztood is her touchstone album.

boxed

I bought it new about 2 weeks ago. It's a great record.

It is great.
The only reason she didn't sell as well is because she isn't pink haired anymore.

another one that is really undervalued - i was listening to it today:

UNDERCOVER - The Rolling STones.

Undercover of the Night is just classic, dead-on kinetic rock. Love it.

They're both good. But I have friends who hate her. I think it's the voice. But I think it's a portuguese thang. I don't know what nationality Idina Menzel is (Maureen in "RENT", Elphalba in "Wicked) but she looks just like her and her voice is similar to Nelly's. Whatever I think Nelly is one of the most creative artists out today.

U2's Pop. All amazing tunes. I hate that they remixed for their greatest hits - totally bowing to pressure. They set out to make a New Order album, and while they really didn't, they made an amazing album. I could listen to it over and over. The fact that it annoys so many people actually makes it better. biggrin

Pop is amazing! My favourites R "Please", "Do You Feel Loved" & "If God Will Send His Angels"! biggrin (I don't like the remixed versions either!)

That's one that you can't find on CD cheap. Although, I think BMG still has it (as well as all of Janet's CDs, including "Janet Jackson" and probably by now "Damita Jo" available in their catalog. My sister is a member and I'm always tempted to join since their catalog is so good (900 times better selection than Columbia House).

My pick for album everyone thought sucked...."Britney" by Britney Spears. I just think this album was really well done and most of the singles and their remixes didn't do it enough justice. "Anticpating" is just a nice fun pop song that should have been a single. A lot of strong pop songs with a good R&B, dance/club vibe, with a nice ballad "Not A Girl.." and one sort of goofy and forgetable cover ("I Love Rock N Roll").

Used for $10! Most places sell it new for that much or less now (I think K-Mart had it and "janet" discounted for like $9.99 a long time ago)

My sister isn't really a Mariah fan but she saw "Rainbow" used for $10 not very long after it came out and bought it, probably based on "Loverboy". Now she tends to buy lots of pop discs and get bored with them (I'm not sure if she even likes music that much or if she is just very fickle and needs to find what she likes). Anyway, of all the CDs she has that collect dust, that's probably the one she regrets the most and listened to the least. I remember just looking that at the song titles and thinking "Wha..."
