What are the best Jody Watley albums?

redface

I think I might be kinda partial to someone who's been compared to janet!

Also, what is her relationship recording-wise to Prince, if any?

All I know is that she used to be married to Andre Cymone and he served as her producer early in her solo career.

I'm partial to Midnight Lounge but that's mostly for the remixes of Love to Love, Photographs but the album versions are solid too. I also like it because it’s the most recent but for her older stuff check out Larger Than Life or Jody Watley.

My favorite Jody SONG is....

"STILL A THRILL"

that song is so funky....even her vocal tone so seductive.....
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.

The only original album of hers I have is "Midnight Lounge" and wow! It's got this steamy sort of jazzy dance sound. It's very lush and not cheap like sounding dance music like you'd except (considering she isn't on a major label, "past her prime", etc.). Her voice is very strong and the writing is really witty. You should pick it up or at least give a listen to some MP3. The title track and "The Essence" are my favorites.

It has to be the one with the Andre Cymon stuff on it. Still A Thrill I guess. I would love to have this MP3.

All this Jody Watley talk has me nostalgic. I can't believe there's no DVD compilation. And if there is it's probably in Japan. sad

I can't believe U guys R into Jody Watley like that? I mean she was cool during that 80's dance/POP era but it's not like she's a legend or anything, LOL.

I'm cool with that and I was thinking of paysites. I haven't downloaded in forever, well before they started charging. Could you recommend any legal sites to download that have a really good selection (rare, remixed, alternative and/or imported stuff is really what I want) and good prices?

I think that SOS summed it up well. She was damn good. While her ninties albums (well, the ones released) left some people cold (I actually forgot to mention I have "Intmacy" and it's OK but nothing great), the latest album is hot as hell. That's why I discussing her.

Her voice is so...well soulless, but I did like her back then.
