NY Show $150 bucks a seat !

I just got through on the NPG Site and the tickets for the NY show are $150 dollars each!

This on top of the $100 I've paid for premium membership is a little (very hard) to swallow!

I will be missing this show .... Its just too much money for one nights entertainment - However good Prince is ... I've never paid this much for one show ....

How does everyone else feel about this... Prince shows are not normally this expensive - So why the hike in price...

I was one click from joining the NPGMC....and hit the delete key realizing I have to pay for the ticket as well. I'll pay just about anything but i would like the chance to buy things at the concert. I'm going to wait on Friday and try to get the best seats.

I just posted the same news on another thread. I was fine with the $100 I paid for the Buffalo show. I was going to pay the $125 for DC but my travel plans prevented me from going. But this $150 thing is a bit much. That's $1 a minute for the 2 1/2 hour show. Maybe if he comes out and gives me a back rub I'd consider it. Or let's me crash at his place for the night.

The Buffalo show was the best show I've ever been to other than Earth, Wind and Fire and I get to see them again Thursday night for $40 and I only have to drive...hell, I can walk to the theater they are playing at in Albany. It's only 2 miles away from me. And I had no problems getting the tickets online.

Makes me want to just buy one of those bootlegs from the Chicago show.

Up front w/ Madonna is $350 per ticket! No soundcheck, No afterparty(performace?)- it's only $25 more than past tickets- DO IT- don't miss this! Soundcheck in NY! This is not one nights entertainment- This is a chance of a life time!

Well, there at least a few differences between Buffalo/Albany and NYC. I'd start with the price of just about everything. The $150 price per ticket plus $100 membership (for access to all shows, soundchecks, afterparties AND 4 CD's this year) seems like a very fair price for a seat within the first 15 rows to see Prince.

How much for an orchestra level seat to see a Broadway play like The Producers? This is 2002, not 1984. Have you bought a pair of shoes lately? Been out to dinner and to the movies? Prices have gone up.

It is a lot of money. People call others foolish for complaining about the price. There is a difference between thinking it's a lot of money and simply not being able to afford it. I can't afford $150 to see Prince either. If he comes to LA I will just get the cheapest tickets I can. Since the venues are small it shouldn't be all bad. The souncheck I could do without. I definitely understand your feelings though. I started a thread a couple of weeks ago about Prince being too expensive. A lot of people slammed me. I bought front row tickets (more or less) to 3 Harry Connick Jr shows for less than 180. That's cool. Granted, it costs 350 to see Madonna, but that's even more INSANE.

If you're disgusted I can't say I blame you, you have to live within your means, but this issue isn't unique to Prince gigs. Unfortunately concert tickets are outrageous for most performances nowadays.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
