I did! Loved it.
Could've been much worse, thought there was a great group of artists. Just wish it was an hour longer. The country part I could've lived without just cause I've always loved Ray's take on it, not country itself, but I really enjoyed it. Stevie brought the house down, Usher was good, love Norah, B.B. King's always been a favorite of mine-Mary J. and Elton were good openers. Damn good stuff. [Edited 10/24/04 22:47pm]

Of all the great artists who were Ray's peers or followers, James is certainly one I would've like to see perform at an event like this. Overall the thing should have been longer, and if Elton got to have two songs, Stevie should have too.

As much as I loved seeing Al Green out there I would've thought we'd see James at least do a little something. I wonder if it has something to do with his personal/legal problems that could've somehow prevented him from doing something. I'd hope not-and that really does surprise me with Elton-I wonder if just because he's on Genius Loves Company or something that he gets two and Stevie only gets one. I'd just as well let Stevie do half the show-that felt the most powerful to me-two men that went beyond their perceived limitations to change the face of music we know it, and Stevie paying his respect to a true peer. I thought Elton was alright, but he's no Stevie Wonder. That's a given. Al Green though really surprised me-I've always loved him, but it's always great to see a guy still be able to move a crowd like that.
