Lots of us do, and they have been making music since the 80s and long after MTV stopped being about music. They might have defined the 80s and mtv, but mtv and 80s no longer defines them.

True. I'd say they are about the same in terms of what us fans are expecting. They are both a collection of songs that are going to appeal to as many people as possible, therefore us diehard fans are disapointed because we know they can do better. That's what happens when you sign with a major label, you gotta be bland and mainstream, use "hip" producers, etc. The bside to Sunrise is interesting, although it doesn't sound like a complete song, more of an experiment, but I liked what I was hearing. I wish they went more in that direction on the cd.

i've only heard the first single, but judging from that, they've got nothing on Musicology.

OK, now you're putting words in my mouth. No, Duran Duran is not underrated, but they're not overrated either. But bands like Aztec Camera and Altered Images are underrated to me.

no no no! Nevertheless, I will not have you sit here and badmouth my boys, Duran Duran. If so, you'd be playing Russian Roulette.

HAVE U EVEN HEARD THE NEW ALBUM?

AND I BELIEVE the album u refer to is POP Trash which was to sum of the music scene at the time they put it out. Which was about right.. Back Street Toys and all. I think it did its job. The music scene sucked majorly there for a while.
They were tired of it just like Trent Reznor saying he didn't like the scene at the time and wasn't putting anything out.

and with bands like scissor scissors and Goldfrapp, The killers and FRANZ FERD.
I think its turning for the better.

I would suggest u go to the site i listed ..( http://www.duranduran.no ). and go to the download section and down load skintrade demos and all the bootleg stuff. STILL BREATHING AND BEDROOM TOYS DEMO are great. and then tell me if u think they are still trash ... SIMON LEBON sounds amazing in the the BEDROOM TOYS demo never heard him or any one else but Jeff Buckley Swoon like that in the last 50 yrs,

I am willing to bet they have 6 top tens out of this album thas more than prince has had n the last 10yrs.

I like duran's new cd,but I wanted more of the darkere stuff.I'll get used to it,but it's too happy and vanilla.I am glad they have a 4 record deal because they will have the opportunity to experiment more.I'd really like to her this stuff live, though.A lot of stuff like this really comes to life in a live performance.

I got the dvd and it's very strange to me,these Duran guys. They ,well,Simon and Nick, are almost like women ,but apparently, like to "lay" with women.I wonder if there ever has been any bowie/jagger moments.

John is still the playboy type, but he is cool because he plays the bass.Bass players are ALWAYS the coolest guys ina band.

Duran Duran have been going at it for 25 years. Nick and Simon have always kept Duran going since 1986 when the first member decided to leave the business.

I imagine they had to please the record company this time around. Have you heard the bside to Sunrise? It's very Tel Aviv, for the 00s.

I've seen some pics of Simon and Nick getting kinda close. Kiss on the check kinda thing... but Simon and John got a little freaky in 89 in Japan. During Some Like it Hot... It's hard to explain, but Simon said "I just can't help myself, Johnny!" And they were singing, facing each other. It was totally homo-erotic and it looked as though John had an orgasm.

Whoa!!Really??I didn't peg John for being bi,but I would almost bet the ranch that Simon and Nick are.Who knows. They ar
e British.(j/k)Simon has long been in love with John. And he finally got him under the influence of ectasy and coke.Simon dressed up like a woman and confused John and seduced him.John has a penchant for really tall models and Simon is 6'3".

Andy are Roger were horrified with all this. They left the band and became recluses. Roger stillw ears shades 24/7 so that he can't see "the bad men doing the bad things".

Oooohh I found the video clip in question. It's big, no pun intended. giggle If you want to see it, go here: http://www.duranitaly.com/download.htm and right click and save target on the picture for Eleciton Day/Some Like it Hot. I think there is some good girl-on-girl action by the backup singers as well. wink Haven't seen it in a while.

I fucking hate it when people call Duran Duran an "80's band". They're been around since '79 or so, and they're still going strong today. Sure, all of their biggest laurels have been in the 80's and that was their creative & commercial peak and whatever. But they've done stuff after that too. And they were successful at it. Duran's career should not be confined to just what they did in the 80's. It's very unfair and narrow-minded to say that.

You want an 80's band? I'll give you The Smiths.

They were born and then they lived and then they died.....in the 1980's. From 1982-1987, they existed and did their thing. Sure, they still might be popular and influential, but they're still an 80's band. Or, technically, that's how long their career has lasted.

Duran, on the other hand, is still around.
