marc dorsey-people in search of a life.

"people in search of a life" by marc dorsey on the "clockers" soundtrack- is this a cover?
this song is so haunting to me. it's one of the few non-gospel songs that really gets to me. The intro pictures of dead black men on "clockers"seems to have something to do with it too. what else has he made that you guys can recomend?

I remember him faintly. Didn't he do a cover of the Stylistic's "People Make the World Go 'Round" for another one of Spike's films?

I loved his work on the Spike Lee soundtracks!! He sounded eerily like Donny Hathaway...He eventually put out a solo album Crave back in '99, but unfortunately it sounded nothing like his work for Spike...People were expecting mature soul, but it was obviously tailored towards trying to get a 'Radio Hit' album... it had a lot of programmed beat, Hip Hop/Fake R&b crap on it, and I don't think it played to his strengths at all...It's a shame, because he's definitely got the goods vocally, Like Donnie and Frank McComb, two other "Hathaway -like vocalist/Musicians...

Incidentally, "People In Search Of A Life" was written by Raymond Jones, the former Chic keyboardist who's written some great songs for Spike Lee Movies...Be Alone Tonight(School Daze),"Never Explain Love(Do The Right Thing), Harlem Blues( Mo' Better Blues) are just a few, in addition to his own solo albums...

on the other hand, although Raymond writes great songs, he's not a great vocalist, and the best moments on his own albums are when he lets others do the singing. Now, if he and Marc Dorsey could've hooked up for a whole Album, then we'd have something Smokin!!!

man all of those spike lee movies are some of favorite soundtracks, especially that cut "harlem blues" and everything on "school daze." it's a shame he fell prey to corporate rnb, he has a beautiful voice.

Hey I liked his duet with Kelis and N*E*R*D entitled "Ghetto Children." He's a nice singer. I'll try to check out his work.
