I'm LOVING the new De La. Not a bad track on it, and the title track is one of the best thing they've done in years.

I was really disappointed by Mos Def, though. If he's going to the live music thing, he needs a better band, and his lyrical outlook suddenly seems a little sour.

My suprise find: Rilo Kiley's More Adventurous. Nothing revolutionary, just a great little rock-pop band with terrific lyrics.

With you on De La, but I dig Mos' new joint more with each listen. Rilo Kiley, dunno that one, but may have to check it out,

Had fun at the record store yesterday.

I got this wonderful cd for $1 by (don't laugh) Chromeo lol (i said don't laugh). The cd is on fire!! Its like 80's techno funk, an Arab guy and a DJ (?) I think. A little Roger Troutman, Herbie Hancock, with fierce beats. Never spent a dollar so wisely. You must pick it up Greedy Girl is the single

and

Adina Howard - The Second Coming cd. Remember her last cd cover that had her big ass all up on the front cover. It has some slammin tracks too; Wanna Be, Crank Me Up w/ Missy, T-Shirt & Panties w/ Jamie Foxx.

and

a dance cd: Journeys by dj Farley & Heller part 1. whoa! Perfect with tracks by Funky green dogs, Black Science Orchestra, Lou 2 and more.

and

An Atlantic sampler cd that had tracks by: Phish, Brandy & Kanye, Rush, R. Kelly & Twista, Kevin Lyttle, the Corrs, and the afore mentioned CHROMEO

I'm gonna give it a few more spins, definitely. I loved the first one so much that I think I'd hyped this one in my mind too much. But even on the first one, the non-hiphop tracks were my least favorite. If only we could get another Black Star album..

Rilo Kiley sounds to me like a combination of Pretenders, Blondie, Belle & Sebastian--with a little more country influence thrown into the mix. And just really solid songcraft.

I had two long car rides in the last two days. I had a lot of time to listen to music. ^-^

I started with David Bowie's 3rd disc in the BBC set. I love the version of "Let's Dance" that sounds like "Wild Is The Wind" during the beginning.

I then listened to the first couple songs of David Byrne's "Grown Backwards" then I switched over to Rufus Wainwright and "Poses".

I was in the mood for something different so I put in "The Gold Experiance".

When that was over, I decided to put in Smashing Pumpkins "Dawn to Dusk" cd of MCATIS. It was in celebration of meeting Billy later that evening. ^-^.

*This is where I met Billy Corgan and then went and saw a play at the Power Center.*

What I listened to on the drive home from Ann Arbor today.

I started with Talking Head's "Stop Making Sense". I've had this album for about a year now and I never, ever get tired of listening to it.

That ended somewhere around Flint. So I put in disc 1 of the David Bowie 50th Birthday concert. Followed somewhere later by disc 2. The version of "Fashion" Bowie does with Frank Black is amazing.

I only had time to listen to "Twilight To Starlight" for my last CD. Again, in celebration of metting Billy!

The condensed version:

David Bowie - BBC recordings.
David Bowie - 50th Birthday.
David Byrne - Grown Backwards
Rufus Wainwright - Poses
Prince - The Gold Experiance
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness.
Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense.

I am still diggin Chromeo! and the remixes on the end, whew!

Adina has some good jams at the beginning, but the last 6 songs are all slow. I was hoping it would pick back up at the end but no luck. They are not bad songs but after 4th or 5th they just start runnin together. She still has her stank side 'put your face in it' and 'come lick it' but its not as nasty as people might think.

If you want a copy just say the word. Spread love razz (or your legs as Adina would say) no I didn't (yes I did)
