R.Kelly works at McDonalds

R. Kelly has apparently found a new vocation - serving behind the counter of his local McDonalds.

Reported by MTV, the R&B superstar manned the drive-through window at a St. Louis McDonalds for at least three hours last Saturday (October 23rd) after completing a concert nearby.

Allegedly, Kelly had initially tried to convince staff at the restaurant to stay open when he and his crew arrived minutes before closing time.

After achieving this, he then persuaded the manager to take him on as a short-term employee and work the drive-through window.

Apparently the restaurant was later besieged with fans, all of whom wanted to be served by Kelly.

A spokesman, Alan Mayer, commented that the incident was typical of the singer.

He said: "He gets a kick out of it, I guess as a way to interact with fans without it being totally crazy."

It’s not the first time that the singer has worked at the fast food giant.

In early 2002 he pulled a similar stunt in Atlanta, which he described at the time in an interview with MTV

He said: "I came to the window and said, 'Can I take your order?' and people are like, 'Yeah, give me a whatever.' They'll take their order and then they'll leave.

"And I'm looking them dead in their face. A lot of people look at me and can't believe it's me. They just walk right past me."

Kelly has long professed his love for McDonalds and claims the mere sight of the Golden Arches can conjure up memories of childhood

This mostly stems from reminisces about his late mother, with whom he used to spend every morning at the fast-food joint.

Speaking earlier in the month on US TV programme "Primetime Live", he explained this.

He said: "She'd fix a cup of coffee. She'd wear this cheap lipstick. She'd leave this red lipstick ring around my cup.

"And I'd turn that around and drink that part, taste lipstick and coffee at the same time. 'Cause if I could, I would have married my mom. But you know, she turned me down ... Those are the things that my mother and I shared."
