Anybody heard of Cody Chesnutt's The Headphone Masterpiece? I haven't heard about the album until today. It's a double album with 36 wide-range genre songs. I listened to some of the samples of the songs and it sounds freaking brilliant. One thing I've noticed is that he used a 4-track recording system to make the album sound lo-fi (reminds me of Sly's There's A Riot Going On). He also recorded it in his bedroom. So does anyone have it or has anyone heard of it because I'm definitely going to get it. Check me out and add me on:

Yeah, I have the album too. Hmmmm, this is a hard one to answer. I think that the production is so poor that it takes away from the originality and creativity that Cody has. Hate to say it but that is what I get from it. I think he could have redone the work at a professional studio, heck even a good home studio and it would have turned out better. He has some nice things going on but, sorry to say, I can't get into the "sound". Maybe that just comes from being a producer and trying to get the best fidelity out of my own personal work. He should really think about re-recording a lot of the tunes on that album. I would definately like to hear that. [Edited 10/21/04 8:25am]

I have this too. I think the production value makes it one of the most interesting listens I've heard in a while. I think you have to be in the mood to listen to it. I usually like to listen to it when having a few beers and a cigarette and at night. That's just me of course.
