What is Tyka Nelson's music like and what ever happened to her?

Was her music funky?

I wouldn't say funky.
I would call it sort of melancholy pop.
I like her voice but have heard others call it "thin."
The album I bought was Royal Blue and it has some very pretty tunes on it.

Not really. No big risks were taken. It's kind of run of the mill. What sets it apart for me is the sound of her voice. I thought it was velvety.
Put it this way - I named my daughter Tyka. lol
