Is it worth buying Chaka Khan's "Come 2 My House"?

I heard a couple samples and it sounds funky... Is it worth getting?

Yes,it's worth getting. It's a solid album with many highlights.Vocally,Chaka sounds more powerful than ever, and the production (by Prince) is vibrant, funky and soulful.Songs like "The Drama","Spoon","This Crazy Life Of Mine" and the title track are superb.

Even if Prince and Chaka had better moments in their past, I still recommend to get it. nod
Has anyone tried unplugging the United States and plugging it back in?

i think it blows chunks, i'm afraid. neutral

don't talk to strangers is the best track on there, and frankly the Little Perv's version is better.

Spoon is okay, i guess. confused

It's a great improvement on "Newpower Soul" - it's the same sound, but everything just works better there. Actually to be honest, it's the best Prince album of the latter part of the 90s. There's a whole lot of Prince's own background vocals on many of the tracks as well, so you shouldn't be that disappointed.

I don't listen to it half that much myself though. Perhaps once per year.

it's pretty good. of the 3 half-assed side projects he put out that year (NPS, GCS2000 and Chaka), it benefited best from quality control. leaps and bounds ahead of the other two.

Definitely worth it...probably a B minus grade. My fave: Don't Talk to Strangers, and Journey to the Center of Your Heart. mmmm Chaka on vocals.

This is the only studio album of original material by Chaka I own and while it certaintly doesn't rank with her classics, it is contains nice AC stuff, is a little bit sexy, funky every so often. It's got variety. The vocals are great of course. Considering the price must be low (if you get it used, which you'd almost have to since it is out of print) it's a good deal. For a few bucks you can always check it out. Her rendention of "Don't Talk 2 Strangers" is what sold me on the disc but it's not typical of the album in sound.

Hell yeah its worth buying!

Comparing to the fluff going around at that time(except for L-Boogie's & Nicole Renee's debuts) that album is the bomb-diggity.

To be honest? Its my 1st official album from both of Chaka & Prince and I give it the credit for making me dig into their stuff.

The whole album is a damn good listen altho I have to admit,,Spoon is my least fave joint in there.

The Drama is a very personal soul ballad that I really think you'll love.

This album is fresh(recorded in 3 weeks only) its a wonder what they'll do if they stayed for another 3 weeks to make the album.

Get the mofo already coz its on the verge of getting out of stock.

Spoon is the bomb! I didn't like her rendition of Hair, thought it was kinda weak. There are some great tracks on her, although I seriously despise "Don't talk to Strangers".

I love "Hair". She sounds like she's having a ball with this one, her attitude is like "Aw fuck it, I'm done proving myself to ya'll fools. I've already put my foot on the ground long time ago".

Her version of Sandra St.Victor/Prince's song is just motherfuckin' R-A-W headbang

I love it when she wails her big hair off,,,bangs my head so hard music

I agree. The two remakes ("Hair" and "Don't Talk To Strangers") are the only disappointing songs on the album. But the rest is superb!
