I wasn't aware that David Bowie was
either Homosexual or Bi-sexual, due
to his marriage to a very female
supermodel and susequent children.

I'm aware that Bowie has'played' with
this image in the past and has previously
appeared in womens clothing, but I was not
aware that it was anything more serious.

Of course, as a rather recent discoverer of
Bowie I may be wrong.

he played around with bisexuality and messing around with gender in the early to mid '70s, but over the past decade or two, he's become a confirmed family man and has a gorgeous wife and a new baby daughter...he said in interviews that in that period of his life, he considered himself a "sexual tourist" and wanted to explore gay culture, but found that it wasn't for him.

I was backstage
couldn't belive my luck was in
I saw him approach
wearing the most approachable grin
When he said hello
I was surprised he spoke so politely
I said I liked the show
Well he just smiled
I guess it happens nightly
and so
I fell in love

We went to his room
he had a videocamera
I was so nervous
I had to try hard not to stammer
He said
"I'm glad you liked the show
that crowd was dope out there
tonight, alright
You wanna see some more?
Well be my guest
You can have a private performance"
I'd fallen in love

I didn't ask why
though he seemed like such a
regular guy
he said we could be
secret lovers
just him and me
Then he joked
"Hey, man!
You name isn't Stan, is it?
We should be together!"
And he was passionate
I guess I would rate
him a nine out of ten
by then
I'd fallen in love

When I asked
why have I heard so much
about him being charged
with homophobia and stuff
he just shrugged

Next morning we woke
he couldn't have been a nicer bloke
Over breakfast made jokes
about Dre and his homies and folks
Neither of us asked if or when
we would see eachother again
but I thought that was cool
'cause I was already late for school
by then
I'd fallen in love

nope, cuz the wigstock movie came out at least two or three years before that flick, and ru is gay as can be in that flick. and i remember listening to ru's radio show back in '96 and he was hardly coy about his sexuality during his daily morning show. maybe waaaay back in the early-to-mid '80s, when he was doing his new-romantic/glam thing, he was all cryptosexual, but i think he came galumphing out of the closet at LEAST when he came out with "supermodel", if not a while before that.

well, just tellin' ya what i read. the interviews were definitely after his supermodel song...and he was definitely claiming to be a flaming hetero.

No. I remember him being on the local radio in Houston, and going on and on about how gay he was (and talking about everyone he thought was gay). This was maybe two weeks after "Supermodel" was added to their playlist. He also did an appearance on Arsenio a few weeks after that, and he was asked if he ever thought about getting a sex change. He replied "no, I'm happy being a big, gay man".

Don't know where you read this, but it was pretty much BS. Ru has always been out and proud.

Thinking back to the 80's...Boy George was a big ole drag queen sleeping with the drummer, and yet somehow the general public was shocked when he said he was gay later on...just thinking of people who you kinda thought was gay and then actually did turn out to be gay/bi

Rupaul
Liberace
KD Lang
George Michael
Tevin Campbell
Elton John
Right Said Fred
Freddie Mercury
David Bowie

Who were these people who were shocked that boy George was gay??? That one was obvious to, oh, EVERYONE!!

Obviously you've never seen his total puppy-love with Mick Jagger in the "Dancing in the Streets" video.

Don't be so pissy. Are you saying he wasn't bisexual 20 years ago, which is what I referred to in my post in specific reference to Mr7's post - a sexual preference or phase which you have already confirmed?

Oh, hey, what's this? Elton John marrying a woman? Total breeder. neutral

i'm sure a lot of the time the record companies don't want the sexuality of an artist to be confirmed, as not to alienate potential fans and have backlash from certain sectors. many people in the artists inner circle know their deal, but just keep mum about it. for instance, the love affair between boy george and jon moss wasn't publicly exposed until years after culture club broke up, although the other two in the band knew full well what was going on. a few members of klymaxx are supposed to be gay too..at least Fenderella and Bernadetted Cooper anyway. Tevin Campbell was still young when he was with Quincy Jones, but i'm sure the record execs kinda had their suspicions (in that one world video, he walks and raises his hands like a runway drag queen)

Freddie was indeed Bi...his first longterm relationship was with a woman named Mary Austin - they broke later but she remained his closest friend right up until the end and she was the main benefactor of his estate nod
