What shows have you been to recently? Not everyone here starts a thread once they have been to a recent show(concert). So I thought I'd give everyone a chance to mention the artists they have seen but weren't sure if they could start a thread about it.

Unforunately the only show I've been to this year was Erykah Badu and Floetry. It was so therapuetic (ok that's spelled wrong) because the show was the day before my moms funeral. I refused to stay home and the show definitely helped.
I do want to see Jay-z and R.Kelly...and I hate to even admit it.

I heard Badu say something along the lines of, she is more interested in live performance than recording albums. Recording albums is a painstaking process, without the immediate response of the audience, and you don't make money on it either I imagine her show is awesome but I've never been aware of her touring midwestern Canada.

I finally saw Rufus Wainwright this year. He was amazing live. There r artists who r built 2 make records and those who just use recording as a means 2 capture what they do. Rufus is the 4mer. He was incredible. Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917

I saw Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains last month. It is Les Claypool from Primus on bass, Bernie Worrell from Parliment/Funkadelic on keyboards, Buckethead on guitar, and Brian ? (the old drummer from Primus). This show was absolutely amazing! Saw it at The Quest in Minneapolis. 'You must first be a Prince before you can be King'

That's some freaky shit right there! I just got back from Morrissey and it was great! Better than I even expected. And a few days back I finally got to see PJ Harvey again after a 9 year dry spell. Just what I needed.

That's some freaky shit right there! That show was intense, it's like edging on complete nervous breakdown! The most emotional music/performance from that guy. Only 2 people to play it all too.

went to a Fairtrade gig recently - REM, the Thrills, Razorlight, Minnie Driver, Jamelia were all playing.
The first three were wonderful. Except REM's new songs bored me. Minnie Driver was okay - nice voice, but bland sort of low-fi country thing going on. Going to see Jill Scott next month and Joss Stone in november too.

Here's a show you should go to if you're in NYC!
Rock Star Mondays Crash Mansion @ Blvd. 199 Bowery at Spring Street Hosted by Glam PR’s: Princess G, Lady B. and Abby Z. Come join us this Monday night and check out three hot new acts! Open bar from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. Meleni Smith at 8:30pm Klick at 9:30pm The Red Elvises at 10:30pm About the artists: Meleni Smith is an eclectic music prodigy. From the halls of Columbia University to her new home at Columbia Records, Meleni is set to make her mark on the industry. With just a few years in the record business, Meleni has managed to earn such accolades as a 2003 ASCAP songwriting award and performing alongside Meshell N’Degeocello and Bill Withers. Her unique fusion of pop, rock and soul is infectious and poised to launch her into superstardom. Klick is a hip-hop infused rock band who will get you on your feet and moving. Members Carl Restivo, Mark Biondi, Jeff Vega and Rob Guarigila combine their experience with everyone from Wyclef Jean to Sugar Ray to Maroon 5 and give you a show bound to knock your socks off. ASCAP summed them up perfectly: “There are a lot of acts out there that can make great studio sounds or perform well live. However, no new band blends the two better than Klick.” What do you get when you mix surf-rock with the sounds of Russia? The Red Elvises. Formed in 1996 by singer/guitarist Igor Yuzov and singer/bassist Oleg Bernov - and later joined by balalaika virtuoso Zhenya Kolykhanov and drummer Avi Sillis- this Russian band brought their distinct style to Los Angeles and haven’t looked back since. Selling out clubs throughout the LA area, the band later appeared on Melrose Place and released several successful records, including the 2002 album, Rokenrol. Be sure to check out this cult favorite!

The last show I went to was Sting and Annie Lennox about two weeks ago. I won those tix from a radio station. Due to CPT and random drama leading up to us finally leaving, we missed Annie but caught all of Sting. They performed "We'll Be Together," and that was an awesome moment. Other concerts I've seen this year:
Prince (2x) (June and Sept.) John Mayer / Maroon 5 (July) Freestyle concert: Sugar Hill Gang, Expose, The Cover Girls, Stevie B, Dazz Band, Brick, Lisa Lisa minus Cult Jam and Full Force, Debbie-Deb (August) "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

I just remembered, Scissor Sisters was the last show I saw. Forgetting their show is not a reflection on their performance. Rather it's a reflection of me going to a show with Strep Throat and proceeding to drink 12 beers to make the pain go away
