janet will be performing on the radio music awards. forget about the fact that she has had almost NO radio airplay...its about time she is on tv (and i'm not talking about that waste of a will and grace episode). nbc must know its a big deal to have janet on because they saved her name for last and their was a slight pause before they said and janet jackson". yeah, i'm a dork, whatever, but it was great to finally hear her name on a music show.

the chances of her being nominated for a Grammy, though, are about nil. and it's questionable if she'll even get any nods at the AMA's. so what would be the point of inviting her to perform. plus, i'm betting any major TV broadcasts are going to be a bit wary of putting her on stage for awhile yet.

well, you know how these awards committees are...if they want to nominate her they will, regardless of how much airplay a songgot or how the sales were. janet's career is far from over and this rough patch has to end at some point. she's been in the business forever, i'm sure she's earned some favors...

but hopefully this bad year for her will be a positive thing. she'll regroup, come up with something she hasn't done many times before, and start fresh. i'm sure of it. i hope so, anyway. as much as i dislike janet at the moment (and over the last several years), nothing would please me more than to see her back on the cutting edge of pop and r&b and at the top of her game.

i just don't see a change of fortune for her before the end of the year. it's going to take a completely different album/media campaign to bring her back. and i don't think that's a bad thing. it would probably be better for her to just lay low for a year or two instead of trying to flog this dead horse. it's not going anywhere.

hmmm...i think just the opposite as far as flogging a dead horse. i think she should continue to support this record and even tour for it. madonna's record did even worse than janet's in the states yet her tour was a massive seller and gave her back some respect that had slipped a little with american life (though i love that cd). janet needs to continue peddling this new record and eventually tour. maybe she should do a greatest hits tour a la madonna's re-invention tour and pull out all the stops. an incrdible tour would certainly gather interest in her latest cd and could very well be the push she needs to overcome this lack of press.

The Blockbuster awards don't exisit anymore (are you trying to start rumours!) but Janet did win big the second or maybe even first year when "The Velvet Rope" had been out. Shame it never got any Grammys like it deserved. It was the same year Howard Stern won for his movie and he talked about what a big ass Janet had (and it wasn't a compliment). I think she blew his show off and he was pissed.

Also, I think the AMA nods are out now. The awards happen in Nov now (which is strange becuase last year they must have had two shows in one year?). I think Janet has a nod or two in the R&B catogery (I would say she and this album are more pop, but whatever)....

And the Radio Shows are almost as bad as the Wordl Music Awards...almost! I'm going to set the tape for Janet's performance and that's it!

i think she just needs to drop it. nothing is going to turn this album around for her. it did help Madonna, but it didn't help the album itself. and i still feel that it was the wrong time for Madonna to tour as well, as much as i enjoyed finally being able to see her.

i doubt madonna feels that it was the wrong time for her to tour. she got her name everywhere, she was praised from every critic who wrote on the show, she made mad money and she affirmed her status as a powerhouse in the business. if janet tours with a bad ass show, the same effect would be seen.

it's possible, but i'd have preferred if they both would lay low for a year and a half and make a tour part of a tour-de-force comeback.
