BOWIE HEADS FOR SPACE

Not sure if this got posted...

from dish column on sfgate.com

David Bowie's classic hit Space Oddity has been chosen as the first track to be played on the first commercial space trip for tourists.
The 1969 hit has topped a poll to find the ultimate play list for the trips, which are due to start within the next three years.

The songs will be heard on the new three-hour Virgin Atlantic flights which will cost nearly $200,000 per person.

Other tracks that made the shuttle's playlist included Oasis' All Around The World and Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles.

That's very cool.

Never really expected something like this in my lifetime-I just hope they're successful when they happen.

I don't know if this is the most reassuring song to be played as you're leaving the Earth's stratosphere. But that's just me. shrug

I think Pink Floyd's "Delicate Sound of Thunder" is the first album played in space. It was brought up on a cassette by a Russian cosmonaut.

Oh crap! Heading into space with Oasis playing? That would ruin the experience for me!

Personally, I think they should play stuff like the themes to Star Wars, Star Trek and 2001!
