Janets' best video-Love Will Never Do Is Love Will Never Do (Without you). It was her new svelte look without going overboard.
Herb Ritts directed and it has beautiful cinematography Playful ..all actors/models ( Yossour) and Janet. Tony too. It came out on the last gasp of the RN album unexpected and a new perpsective. Its just too chill and still holds up today without looking dated. It's a great song this video enhanced. The only time Janet looked better is her That The way Love Goes Love Will Never Do and Cherish are beautiful videos. | |

One of her very best indeed.  I also prefer the black & white version to the colourized one. Only 1 thing I'd change. Get Antonio Sabato Jr. out of there. His ego gets in the way when I watch that video.

Yes,
Love Will Never Do is her best expression of feminity and sensuality in a video. She was reserved just enough to be enticing... I love that video and found it completely shocking at the time ... because she'd been the tomboy military girl. Suddenly, she was womanly. | |

I didn't mind it at first. He looked good and they made a good couple in the video. But I saw him at an awards show a few years later and he had an attitude because he didn't win. Didn't even clap for the winner.
In another interview he said "I know I look good." He's not even a DIVA.

 I love the "Love Will Never Do" video. When it first came out, I remember being in shock from seeing Janet's bodacious body because she had covered it up fully in all her previous videos. Oh, you had a hint of her in "Pleasure Principle", but this one took her to a new level and ushered her into the sex symbol strata of musical artists...and she hasn't looked back since. It is a great video.....doesn't herb do "cherish" by madonna.....their should be a vs contest for sure.....he also did "in the closet" by MJ!
Anyway, my fav Janet vid has to be "r nation", my god, that choreography was amazing, no quick cuts like all those other MC hammeresqe vids at the time either, I still got the whole film and making of vhs.....the film has this amazing black and white atmosphere, and Michael copied janet's smashing up stuff in his "black or white" vid 4 sure.....it is when janet sngs "the knowledge"! The film ("1814") is so beutiful, I honestly love it.....same with "grafitti" bridge" which also has tons of that dark atmosphere that I love..... Has the mini movie been released on any compilations since? As vid id now way outta print of course! The making of is interesting and long enough to satisfy too, u also get to c diamond (or pearl?) before she joined prince's live shows..... | |

Herb made great, timeless videos. So did Mark Romanek, his "Got Til It's Gone" won a grammy for Best Short Film. You can watch any Herb or Mark Romanek directed video and they still hold up as well as the day they came out. They never become dated. The film ("1814") is so beutiful, I honestly love it.....same with "grafitti" bridge" which also has tons of that dark atmosphere that I love.....

I remember dancing around to that in my living room in 1990! The mini-film has not appeared on anything else since then. I wish Janet's team would've included it in the recent CD+DVD version of RN1814. The making of is interesting and long enough to satisfy too, u also get to c diamond (or pearl?) before she joined prince's live shows.....
The part I remember the most out of that "Making of..." featurette was when one of the dancers was trying his hardest to do the "5, 4, 3, 2, 1" thing with his hands and ended up sticking up a middle finger to the camera. CLASSIC! | |
