In terms of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, these are my basic essentials following a timeline.

Jimi Plays Monterey - June '67 (performance date)

Are You Experienced? - August '67

Axis: Bold As Love - January '68

Electric Ladyland - October '68

Live At Woodstock - August '69 (performance date)

Band Of Gypsys - December '69 (performance date)

Cry Of Love - '71 ?

Anyone want to fill in holes or add pre/post-Experience, have at it.

I agree with my boy Aud, although not in that precise order. I would suggest Are You Experienced? first. It's such a shame really how Jimi's music has been totally taken advantage of. So much that has been released post Hendrix should have not even been released. U have people "finishing" tracks that Jimi didn't get to complete. I know Jimi has turned over in his grave so many fucking times behind this shit. Alan Douglas, Mitch Mitchell AND Eddie Kramer needed to have gotten their ass whooped for being behind a lot of that shit. To pimp somebody after they're not here to defend themselves is extremley punkish. Anyway, start by listening to anything that Jimi was alive when it was released, and u can't go wrong, really.

I understand where you are coming from as far as finishing tracks, however Hendrix had about 20 or so tracks in the can upon his death...most of these are the ones currently available on 'First Rays..." and "South Southern Delta".He was on the verge of putting these tracks together for his 4th studio LP when he died... I for one applaud Kramer's efforts in making these songs available as he feels Jimi would have wanted...and many are the way Jimi left them, from what Ive read...however ,I DO NOt condone Alan Douglas' releases with studio musicians filling in...that is wrong....and i dont think anyone likes those albums anyway....

...now if we could just get some more shows..... hmmm

Yeah, I'm hip to that fact. I have both cd's that u mentioned, and I think both are good. BUT, no one knows if Jimi would have released these songs even though they were finished. I'm just not into pimpin out someone who's not here. Jimi was so sensitive to his 'sound' and he was rarely happy with the finished product. Like Jimi once sang "Ain't no telling".

1) Is it as bad as it looks?
2) If so, who should I place the hit on for releasing it? shoot3

I dig it...That single has a lengthy "Little Drummer Boy" Instrumental that I think was recorded in the Band Of Gypsys rehearsal at Baggy's....

Have you heard the 13 or so minute "unreleased" version of "3 Little Bears"? After the place it usually fades they move into an extended jam of something else... Oh, and Hendrix' expletives aren't deleted from that one... biggrin

No, I have had this single "Gloria" forever. It's one of my fave covers by Jimi. I play it in my car. Jimi clearly says "WOLF pussy". I knew that's what he said, but I pulled it out and listened to it again and he says "wolf".
