What was the first single you bought?

I was 11 when I bought my 1st vinyl single... A dutch band called Doe Maar was as popular as The Beatles at the time in Holland...

I put all my money together and bought this single...

But, for all you non dutch people; this was my first single of a foreign artist...

Soon after these I bought When doves cry...and my love for Prince started.

Show me your 1 st single cool
the beautiful ones, you always seem to loose

It was "Disco Juice" (12") by Cloud One. I actually wanted their record "Atmosphere Strut" but I didn't have enough money. For years I searched for Cloud One's album. Found the remastered CD, like, 20 years later. biggrin

Nope. lol I never saw the point of buying just two songs from an artist. I always wanted the whole album.

I like dance music sometimes, but I really never know where to start on those.

What about hip-hop remixes ie. Pete Rock circa 1992?

Yeah, people malign Paula but there was some good stuff:

-Rush Rush
-Vibeology ( cool )
-The Promise Of A New Day
-Rock House
-Will You Marry Me (so old-fashioned but a really nice, pure melody)
-My Foolish Heart

After several very, very bad tape albums (Showaddywaddy? Shakin' Stevens anyone...?) The first ever 7" singles I bought (which I bought together) were:

XTC - Senses Working Overtime
Kraftwork - The Model

Not too bad, really, but trust me it got much worse!
