Vain,I totally agree with you! Yes,Rick was influenced by other artists that came before him,but he still managed to develop his own sound and style. Exactly! Even when he worked with someone as talented as Teena Marie, you could immediately distinguish the ones that she worked with Rick James on because they had that "Rick James sound" that he had. The first time I ever heard Kleeer's "She Said She Loves Me", I thought, "that sounds like Rick James", before I even found out that he had produced it. Even with "Standing On The Top" by The Temptations, you immediately recognize that "sound". And The Stone City Band's "Ladies' Choice" is 100% pure Rick James. Andy is a four letter word. | |

As for your comment about Rick's respect for women, its rediculous. I am surprise you make that comment. Honestly, theres no way that you can show me an rock star/ musician who truly has respect for women. With wealthy rock stars/musicians , the women come a dime a douzen and anything is expected when women throw themselves at these men. I grew up with Sly, James, P-Funk etc. when they were in there prime. So you may not have been there an experienced it when it was hot cause you were too young to attend the shows. They may not respect women but that doesn't mean you rape, piss on them etc. If he wasn't a Star he wouldn't get no love. What if it was a friend of yours or a relative. RIP to him. | |

[b]Ok let's get your facts straight. For one thing, You got to understand that not all women on the org are in their teens and 20's. Like yourself, I grew up w/Sly, JB, P-Funk, and the Ohio Players. Plus, I am keyboardist and vocalist(come from family w/music background). So, I have vast knowlege and expereince when it comes to music. As for you comment about the musicians, it ain't no damn secrets that women who chase down these musicians will be putting up some shit(drama0. However, I can't excuse artists who rape children and pee on them b/c thats where I draw the line(my finger pointed at their parents). Some of my friends/family have been involved with musicians. Since I have expereince with dealing with horny male musicians, I told them straight up to expect anything and be prepared to deal with some shit b/c women throw themselves at these men and the musician will compare you to the competition.
