.Rick James autopsy shows that there were nine different drugs in his system including cocaine, methamphetamine, valium and vicodin.

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) – Flamboyant funk musician Rick James had nine drugs in his system when he died suddenly in August, including cocaine, methamphetamine, valium and vicodin, according to a coroner’s report Thursday.

His family attributed his death to natural causes, but the Los Angeles County coroner took over the case because James had not seen a doctor in recent weeks. An autopsy failed to establish the cause and toxicology tests were ordered.

The coroner listed nine drugs, including prescription medications for anxiety, pain relief and heart failure, along with cocaine and methamphetamine that were found in James’s body.

Rick was on alot of medication for his diabetes, plus he had a hip replaced, and he was on a pacemaker.

I can't say that I "miss" rick james since he hadn't been out for a minute...But it was still a tragic loss.

The soul station in Boston is running a Rick tribute today.
They're throwing some Lady T, too.

So do I. Don't get me started about Rick. Rick to me was/is a legend. He had done so much for music. In my mind, I always ranked Rick right up there with Sly, Parliament-Funkadelic, etc. He definately paved the way for a young Prince. There is no doubt about that. Hell yeah, I miss Rick. Hopefully, he's in a better, more peaceful place.

i second that emotion! rick was a genious in my opinion. i love prince too but i always tend to go with the under dog and for me rick james was like no other. his style and voice were amazing. so much passion and urgency when he sang. it blew me away! does anyone know where i might be able to find the album "cold blooded" on cd? I'm dying to get it!

I totally agree. I miss him a lot too. I know he wasn't really putting out very much recently but I would love to have gotten a chance to go to one of his concerts.

As for Rick James and Prince...neither one of them would ever admit it, but I think they influenced each other. Prince became shocking after he did the tour with Rick James and Rick James later started dressing like Prince.

I can't wait for the movie about his life to come out. Has anyone heard any more info on that?

Rick James was badasss...R.I.P bro. I wish I been heard about all those legendary songs, he was a deep man, very special in his work and talents, it's a shame he had to go and leave so early....

It's also a safe bet that Motown/Universal will finally get around to remastering his classic albums.They've ignored his catalog for years,but now that he's gone,they'll try to "cash in" big time.

I've always loved rick james since I was a kid but I guess I never really paid close attention to his voice and music until his passing and I really think he was a genious! He also rocked like a mutha and i'm always with any black artist that rock! Rick was the man. I really hope that cd will be released before the ned of the year.

By the way, cold blooded has got to be one of the hottest rick james jams ever! why wasn't it a bigger hit?

I'm sorry but I disagree. Rick James, as well as Prince, very much had his own style. Whenever I heard the majority of Rick James' music on the radio for the first time, I immediately knew that it was something new from Rick James, even before he sang the first note. It just has that "sound" that no one else had which is also carried over to his protegees, The Mary Jane Girls and The Stone City Band. The first time I ever heard "Candy Man" by The Mary Jane Girls, I immediately knew that Rick James had something to do with it before the DJ even announced the name of the group.

As for your comment about Rick's respect for women, its rediculous. I am surprise you make that comment. Honestly, theres no way that you can show me an rock star/ musician who truly has respect for women. With wealthy rock stars/musicians , the women come a dime a douzen and anything is expected when women throw themselves at these men.
