"Alright" is a highly elaborate spectacle. I love that video. So much going on. You can watch the video over and over again and find something new each time. Cab Calloway, Heavy D, The Nicholas Brothers, great sub-storylines, incredible dancing, costumes, choreography, cinematography... it can't get no righter. | |

Yeah she did look podgy in "when I think of u"!
"Alright" is a sorta update of "when I think of u" (as someone else said), but I also think she saw the sucsess of her brother's "smooth criminal" and wanted a piece of an elaborate hollywood musical number type pie! "alright" (the 12" video version with Heavy D) is tons better in my book then "when I think of u", thats in song and video! I love "alright" and is my 2nd fav after "r nation"! The vibe is so cool and carefree.....Heavy makes a good contribution too! On tv version, only heavy was in it on the special guests (and maybe the nick bros.) and some scenes were extended on the tv version like the kids dancing on the stoop! What the fuck is that all about? A tv version that is different to the "extended" home video version? Anyway, I love this video! Janet really went for Mike on the video tip! Herb Ritts directed and it has beautiful cinematography Playful ..all actors/models ( Yossour) and Janet. Tony too. It came out on the last gasp of the RN album unexpected and a new perpsective. Its just too chill and still holds up today without looking dated. It's a great song this video enhanced. The only time Janet looked better is her That The way Love Goes Love Will Never Do and Cherish are beautiful videos. Yes, it is a very beautiful video. Janet is gorgeous as always, but I really hope she gets over her obession with her breasts one of these days. They must get very sore always being pushed up so far and pushed in so tight. I think it's a good video, but I think it also signaled the end of the Janet I preferred. I know that people grow and change as artists as they get older, but I prefer my Janet with some restraint. I love Janet circa Control and Rhythm Nation; I simply like her work after those two. As for videos, my personal favorite is and will always be Nasty. Excellent dance, lots of sassy attitude and it was the best of all her weaves! | |
