only Eminem reference to Prince I can think of - "Without Me" - 'ever since Prince changed his name into a symbol' - followed by a kind of sword swing sound. I like to think of this as Dre nodding in the direction of '7' from the O+> album and paying respect....

Personally, I'm glad BET decided to pull that garbage. It should've been denied rotation for being a horrible song in the first place.... ill

Some of you talk about Eminem being a no-talent ass wipe but I don't see any of you selling the amount of records he does. I guess he has something you don't. He writes better rhymes than most of the rappers out there today. I can't stand most rap music but I think Eminem has a great style. I think the video is hilarious. If MJ can't handle being mocked then get the fuck out of the entertainment business.

Go on Eminem. Keep on doing your thing! thumbs up!
[Edited 10/13/04 8:04am]

As I said before: Eminem had his panties in a bunch when Weird Al Yankovich wanted to mock him publicly. I see you conveniently ignored the double standard in play here...

And he doesn't neccesarily come with quality rap music to sell shit loads of records. 90% of his fans aren't even rap fans to begin with, they're strictly pop lovers. If you like songs like "Just Lose It", or "My Band", then I can see why most rap doesn't appeal to you. It's because you like hip pop, not hip hop...

Mase = hip pop
Eminem = hip pop
Nelly = hip pop
Chingy = hip pop

Nas = hip hop
Talib Kweli = hip hop
Rakim = hip hop
KRS ONE = hip hop

On the radio this morning a caller wondered why Madonna and Pee Wee Herman weren't making noise about it. She also said MJ should be happy that somebody's even thinking about him. confused

He doesn't even have as much talent as Milli Vanilli. At least they could dance. lol

I didn't ignore the double standard. I simply didn't know about it. I went to your link that proved it and I agree that is very hypocritcal of him. However he must have had his reasons. But yes it is hypocritcal of him to mock others when he doesn't want it done to him.

You compare Eminem to Nelly and Chingy. That makes me laugh. They are no where near the same thing. And don't call me a fan of 'hip-pop' as you call it when you don't have a clue what type of music I like or know. I was listening to EPMD, Boogie Down Productions, Eric B and Rakim, Public Enemy, and plenty of others before you probably even knew what it was. wink

Michael jackson has been spoofed countless times and never voiced any disaproval, despite probabley not finding such jokes funney.

In this instance when the joke is quite sick (Think about what is being "jokily" given imagry in this video) it aint suprising that MJ is gonna say somthing. It's quite out of order $ Eminem to make such jokes especialy as MJ aint done shit to him.

I am not a big fan of Eminem, but I can hardly believe this video is more offensive than some of the stuff on BET or MTV.

I think it's much more acceptable to degrade a public figure than to constantly degrade women.

Makes me wonder why BET was the only station to pull the video...

True that. he doesn't normally bother, i think MJ has the trial in mind and wasn't too happy with the kids on the bed in Eminems vid. Stuff like that sticks in Jury members minds once they see it, Parody or not.

Eminems a fucking boring one trick pony anyway. About time people realised that.

You like Eminem, right? Then you like hip pop, 'cause that is what he represents. Damn right he's in there with Nelly and Chingy... Garbage rappers are garbage rappers regardless of color...shrug I simply call it like I hear it...

Personally, the leap of EPMD, Rakim, and PE, to *gasp* Eminem is unfathomable to me. stoned To each their own I guess....

So is Dre considered hip pop to you? Being he gave Eminem his shot he apparently didn't think he was garbage. And yes I do like Eminem. I think he's one of the better rappers out there right now. He's not rapping crap like Right Thurr and Hot In Herre rolleyes. He's raw, has great beats (thanks to Dre of course), and tells it like he feels it is. You don't have to agree... that's just my opinion.

I like all sorts of music. You would probably find it unfathomable that I have Nine Inch Nails in my music collection right next to NWA. So yes... to each his own.

MJ needs to be angry at his publicist for giving him soooo much bad advice over the years. This latest move should be titled:

How to Draw More Attention to a Video You Find Offensive
Step 1: try to have it banned...

The Video isn't even bad. HE is the one that says he was a non-sexual sleep over with boys!! THATS exactly what the video shows!

Thats his Lifestyle! Thats what he wants to fight for! Thats what he threw his whole career away for! I guess after you see it on TV, it looks worse. BUT that is exactly what he is explaining in every interview.

papaa

I COULDN'T CARE LESS IF MJ IS DISSED BY EMINEM

But the song is just wack.

He talks a lot of crap trying to be controversial and just ends up sounding like a child. Musicians need to evolve but the dude is regressing - its a pity cuz he has some talent. The video is absolutely sophmoric, cross dressing poking fun at MC Hammer, MJ, and Madonna -- so so tired.

Anyway, like all Eminem songs, it's targeted at white surburban kids is absolutely -- a smart move considering they have considerable spending power. But in the longterm this may well blow up in his face as its essentially low income blacks who define what is cool or not -- I doubt if they will get the joke.
