Pharcyde

This is random, but I took out my Labcabincalifornia (sp?) cd this weekend while I was cleaning house and I was groovin to it. They got a new cd coming out I might get. I'm not all that into rap, but these guys are different. I don't have their first cd though.

Wasn't one guy on the Real World in Hawaii? eek

Yeeah, Labcabincalifornia bangs! nod Their first release slams also, though it's on a different level than Labcabin, it's still a lot of fun. "Pack the Pipe" "Otha Fish" "She keeps on passing me" are classics! I would say get "Bizzare Ride II" stay away from anything after Labcabin. disbelief

There are only 2 members left "Booty Brown" and "Imani" and they just don't live up to the legend Pharcyde once was. They have a couple decent tracks, but overall they're just riding a dead horse. How can it be Pharcyde with no Tre or Fatlip?

These cats had so much potential to become a strong force in hip hop, but ended up dropping the ball. Every hip-hop head holds their first 2 releases as sacred.

I know Tre went off to do a neo-soul type of thing and actually released an album that flopped and Fat Lip we'll let's just say bruh had some issues.

Thanks for the info, mag! I looked at the tracklist for Humbolt Beginnings, and it was all about the weed

I LOVE Passing Me By, but I never got around to buying that cd and ended up getting Labcabin through BMG or something. Glad I did. It's still good.

Oh man, Humboldt Beginnings! ill I tried to give it a chance, but nah it ain't working.
They also released another cd Plain Rap. Oh and no worries, the majority of the tracks on "BRII" are about the sticky icky! weed I will say just to warn you, it doesn't have the laid back beats of Lab it's almost experimental and it does get a little wild at times, but like I said before it's a lot of fun.

I was hearing Mya's "Falling" and noticed that the beat sounded familiar. Then I remembered that she took it off of Pharcyde's song "Can't Keep Running Away" (I think that's the title.)

I'm not a huge fan of Pharcyde. I only have Cydeways:The Best of cd. My fav. songs from that cd though are "Ya Mama" "Oh Shit" "Return of the B-Boy" "Passing me By" and "Pack the Pipe". Tre was on Real World.....I forgot the name of the girl on the cast he was friends with though.

They didn't breakup per se, it kinda fell apart after Fatlip went back 2 doing blow, and their record label went belly up and their recording contract was a total mess.

They're touring Australia this month, and as much as I want 2 go, there's a difference between a group (what they were) and a duo (what they are 2day).

One2three, the song is just called "Runnin'", haven't heard the Mya version yet

My favourite song of theirs is "4 better or 4 worse"
My favourite video of theirs is "Drop" directed by Spike Jonez

My hope is for them 2 make a comeback like what Digable is doing now

Thanks!

I remember the clips to "Runnin'" and "Drop" - LOVE both those songs. I'm trying to find the clip to "Passing Me By" on Kazaa but the fucker just isnt there.

I too sort of wanted to go, but I heard the new album was piss-awful, and that they were becoming the Destiny's Child of rap with all the member changes. I wonder what their live shows WOULD be like now!
