Kate Bush is awesome!!! For those of you who may not be aware..she has a severly medically involved daughter...which is why she doesn't tour or really do concerts....her music is very inspiring..I can't remember which album it is, but she actually has her daughter on the cover.....she's an amazing lady....

I didn't know about her daughter, that explains alot. I know the reason she's never toured the U.S. is because she's afraid of flying.

I heard that too. Plus,I read in an interview that she never wanted to play in front of an audience to begin with.

The Dreaming is an amazing, brilliant, astonishing piece of work. But 2 things:

1) Give it time! It's not an easy first listen... or 2nd listen, for that matter. Let it soak in.

2) WHEN WILL IT BE REMASTERED???? It sounds so crappy and tinny on CD. The KateBush remasters are long overdue.

Pull out the Pin is one of my favorite songs of all time...

Them remasters were due in '99 so goodness knows what happened to them.

Yay! Pull Out The Pin is a masterpiece of drama set to music. Fantastic work.

I actually didn't know what to make of The Dreaming when I first heard it. I was like "What the fuck was that?" lol I had to play it again immediately after to make sure I'd heard it right the first time. It took me about 10 years to really appreciate it. stoned

As far as I know she only has a son called Bertie and the only woman who appears on her album covers is kate herself.

I know hardly anything by Kate Bush. I know about 2 or 3 songs I'm ashamed to say.

So what album would be a good one to start?

I'm particularly drawn to "The Dreaming" now since you call it "otherworldly" - a word
I only reserve for the best albums in my collection, like Prince's "Parade" or Tori's cd
"From The Choirgirl Hotel".

Well, for a long time my only Kate Bush album was The Kick Inside. It is a firm album; with hits and songs that just stick.

It's a good album to start with, I would suggest to listen to her albums in chronological order. Her music is a journey, like Prince's.

But I am sure you can handle The Dreaming too, which to me is Kate on her best. It is taunting, special, filled with sounds scapes that will blow you of your socks.

To me, the song The Dreaming is special. But I dig Jon Snow's's choice too; Pull Out The Pin is amazing....

Get your Kate Bush info at http://gaffa.org/

That site is my guideline to collecting demo's. And there's a lot...

For anyone wanting to discover her music, I aways recommend Hounds. ITs really her Sign O The Times. Still, she has such incredible stuff on ALL of her albums, that almost any would be good.

The Dreaming is right behind HOL for me. Incredible album!

Bertie Bush?

Yes.
I think his real name is Albert but he is called Bertie. One of the artists she worked with on the new album revealed that the working title for one of the new songs is Bertie. If we like it or not.
