Kate Bush's The Dreaming

Ever since I re-discovered Kate Bush's work, I have been smitten with The Dreaming so much I hardly play anything else.

Besides The Hounds Of Love, The Early Years, The Home Demo's, The Phoenix Demo's, Lionheart, Never For Ever and The Sensual World...

I like The Dreaming so much becuz it is so other worldly.

I am at the moment playing the album, currently at the Night Of The Swallow...

And after that I will play The Sensual World.

I know hardly anything by Kate Bush. I know about 2 or 3 songs I'm ashamed to say.

So what album would be a good one to start?

I'm particularly drawn to "The Dreaming" now since you call it "otherworldly" - a word
I only reserve for the best albums in my collection, like Prince's "Parade" or Tori's cd
"From The Choirgirl Hotel".

Yes, The Dreaming is otherworldly. I going through period of waking up in the middle of the night and playing that album, it was very haunting.

The disks by Kate I can't stop playing are "The Kick Inside" and "Lionheart" I wasn't drawn to these albums until, I was worn out on all of the other stuff by her and I gave these 2 another chance. Now these are at the top of my lists of favorites by her, believe it or not I'd take those before "The Sensual World" and Mos def before "THe Red shoes"

wave Hello, Mister.

Sad to say that Lionheart is my least fave. The first three tracks are great, tho'. The rest of them are, at worst, good. She's yet to make a bad album, in my opinion. smile

I like the feeling Lionheart gives me more than the song themselves. I can't explain it, but there's something really magical about it, that goes for all of her work except The Red shoes. I wonder the album she's working on now sounds like? hmmm

I agree with that. In many ways Lionheart is her darkest album. The cover kinda represents the music within. It has a very claustrophobic feel to it. Starry-eyed poetry by a reclusive young woman. And The Red Shoes ain't so bad, bitch. mad

The Dreaming is an amazing, brilliant, astonishing piece of work. But 2 things:

1) Give it time! It's not an easy first listen... or 2nd listen, for that matter. Let it soak in.

2) WHEN WILL IT BE REMASTERED???? It sounds so crappy and tinny on CD. The KateBush remasters are long overdue.

Pull out the Pin is one of my favorite songs of all time...

Strange but I also stood up in the middle of the night several times when i couldn´t sleep and played that album. Especially the song "Get out of my House".
That didn´t happen with any other album.

My favorite song is "Sat in your lap". The video is great too.

Damn!! The video is still in print, I just checked amazon.com, though it's only on VHS. pout

I really wish the label would remaster this and re-release it on dvd. Umm, the vid is also missing about an hour & 1/2 of footage. I guess there were some technical difficulties with the production. Don't worry, there's plenty there to satisfy.
