Roxanne Shante? Original Hip Hop Wars

I was just listening to a really really old song from Roxanne Shante where her and Sparky D were rapping back and forth dissing each other. Its so funny listening to it today because when I first heard it through my older brother and sister I was too young to understand it. Its so cool though because half of rap doesn't rhyme, but it doesn't really matter. Its more about the strength of the dissing. I've always loved her voice too.

But this made me think: does anyone have any idea what the oldest rap feud was???

I wasn't really conscious enough of the world in the 80's to know for sure. I think most people forgot who the hell Sparky D was. The feud with "the Real Roxanne" overshadowing this one.
Change it one more time..

I need to watch my old Wild Style tape again.

But I remember Kool Moe Dee and Busy Bee having beef back in the earlier years.

The Roxanne Shante vs. The Real Roxanne feud was notable. I was on The Real Roxanne's side.

I'm a sucker for "Bang Zoom (Let's Go Go)." The Real Roxanne had some appeal to me. Ms. Shante was cool, too. Don't get me wrong.

Yep.. I like her better too, then. It took me a long time to appreciate Roxanne Shante. I had completely forgotten about her until I hear this song she did with Mekon called "Bring it On" from somewhere between 1999-2001 (don't remember exactly, but it was really tight).

Now, I've been listening to a lot of old school hip-hop so her name popped into my head again.

I honestly don't even remember what The Real Roxanne sounds like now. I know I had her tape a long time ago though.
Change it one more time..

Never heard of Ealise. Roxanne Shante must have had quite on her. I'd have afraid to dis Latifah back in the day. It just looks like she could kick some serious a$$. I know I've heard "Steady Fuckin" but I can't remember it now. Gonna see if I can track that one down. What did Antoinette sing? I can't remember her either.

Roxanne Shante...

Loved her on "Roxanne's Revenge."

Her old stuff with the Juice Crew and her battles raps against UTFO.

I even bought Frankie Cutlass' "Politics & Bullsh**t" primarily for her rap in "The Cypher Part III." I knew her rap by heart.

Aiyyo, you're lost in the sauce, b*tches still remain
Useless, but when I reign b*tches can't sustain
the drama, word to momma b*tch I leave you leakin
Roxanne Shante stay creepin
You sleepin but I stay armed, and dangerous
No matter what your name is, b*tch I make you famous
A lot of b*tches swear s**t's sweet
But when I creep I'ma lace you from your head to your f***in feet
Frankie Cutlass put me on so I'm back again
Ain't nothin changed it's still the same, ain't no smilin friend
I remember eighty-seven eighty-eight
I was the only one gettin weight from upstate
Gettin cake, Juice Crew All-Stars was my boys
Runnin round town baby makin mad noise
Backtrack turn back the page
Live on stage, wreckin n***az at a early age
I was only fifteen thinkin big time
At the time blind all my eyes saw was gold mines
So all you fake Cristal sippin bitches
Here's a thirty-eight b*tch, click it!
I didn't think so...

Ealise.....is the girl who rapped "The Real Roxanne" Full Forces official answer record to UTFO's song.....it is credited Roxanne f/ UTFO.....the girl who recorded "The Real Roxanne" is not actually the girl who became the Real Roxanne...big confusion back then, long story.....actually they're are 3 Roxannes; Shantè,Ealise the original, and the that Puerto Rican chic who eventually became The Real.....I have a picture of Ealise, just don't know how to post pics here.....her and The Real Roxanne resemble eachother very much in appearance.

Antoinette was a MC that came out of Hurby Luv Bugs (Salt N Pepa) camp, the self proclaimed Gangstress of rap.....her monotone vocal delivery had fans dubbing her the female version of Rakim, her most noteable cut was "I got an attitude". She released her debut album in 89 "Who's the boss?" on Next Plateau records by then MC Lyte had dissed her on "10% dis", and "Slave 2 the rhythm" Antoinette replied with "Light's out the parties over" ,MC lyte then replied again with "Shut the eff up (hoe)" ,lastly Antoinette replied with "Fox that rocks the box" of her 2nd album "Burnin at 20' below" released in 90.....by that time MC Lyte was already on her way to being one of the premiere females in hip hop period, so the diss fest ran it's course,MC Lyte clearly took the the victory crown in that battle....last project I hear Antoinette on was on the Cru album back in 97,she made reference in her ryhme to everything being alright betweeen the 2 of them and the beef has long been squashed, I read some where that Antoinette is now a police officer with the NYPD.
