I know this is not a album...but does that matter? No!


Anyway

I've been listening to "The Heat" by Toni Braxton. This has got to be one of my favourite albums. As the kids on the org say nowadays.."It's Slammin'". Sexy, sensual, romantic, funky, soulful and filled with attitude. "He Wasn't Man Enough For Me" is the 'stuff' baby. Makes you wanna go out on the dance floor and ! "Spanish Guitar" sounds slightly like an "Un-Break My Heart" part 2. But is actually a millions times better. "The Art of Love", an almost entirely instrumental song with a few "ooohs" & "ahhs" ,a little moaning here and there, and a few suggestive lines from Miss Braxton, is a pure baby making song! Think Art of Noise's "Moments In Love" with a heavier and much more sensual beat. The title track, "The Heat", could be a nice chill out with friends by the pool type of song...or, a great bump and grind with your lover. "Maybe" talks about givin' up da ass. "Should I give him some....maybe. Is this the night for fun....maybe." This song is sensual and funky, with Toni doing that fast almost rap like singing a'la Bone Thugs in Harmony. But she actually sounds good doing it. (lyrics posted below. )
I think this album is well produced, written, and performed. Every song is great, and the album has fluidity as far as song placement and thematically as well. Though she won a Grammy for it, I'm surprised how many people have not really heard it. This album makes me wish I wasn't single. Ok..I'm over it now.

It's probably her best record, overall. I also liked More Than A Woman, which wasn't well-receieved.
