Rachid

Has anyone here ever heard of the artist Rachid?

He came out with an incredible album entitled "Prototype" in 1998.

I think it's one of those great albums that no one's ever heard. It received really positive reviews but never took off.

He sounds a bit like Prince.

"The One to Destroy Me" is heartbreaking. One of my favorite songs ever.

I recommend.

I actually used to hang out with this guy. He's definitely a character, but he was pretty cool. A few of us once went to Six Flags together.

As far as his career goes, I think he's trying to work on some new stuff, though I haven't personally spoken to him in a while.

I still have a friend who knows him, so if I hear anything, I'll report.

Yeah I think his dad was in that group but he tried to keep that sort of on the low because he didn't want to be riding his daddy's coattails.

I caught the tail end of his video "Pride" on MTV years ago...I loved the song instantly and bought the CD that day...I would'nt compare him to Prince or Lenny Kravitz, I just don't hear it. I love his singing voice, I know he could tear up a R&B song if he wanted to. His dad is Ronald "Kool" Bell of Kool and The Gang.

Pride music

It's funny how quiet can be so loud
we're too ashamed to talk
cause we're too damn proud
pretending not to know about him
pretending not to know about her
we fell and got our feelings hurt

oh well, it's over now
you say you're walking out
he's waiting for you in the car outside
oh well, it's over now
and I'm breaking down
but I'll never bring myself to cry

(chorus)
you can take all the records
you can even take the damn goodbye
better take what you can
cause I'll never let you take my pride
I'll never let you take my pride
gotta put my tears aside
Because I'll never let you take my pride

it's cruel how she needs to see me ache
she'll know that it's real if she sees the hate
did you really need to bring him here
why can't we part with dignity?
it's a pity bout your insecurity

can't believe it's over now
no need to work it out
I'm so releived we never had a child
well, it's over now and I'm breaking down
I gotta clean up this mess you made inside

(chorus)

sha la la la la
sha la la la la
sha la la la la la la
oh well, it's over now
and I'm breaking down
but I'll never bring myself to cry
(chorus to fade-out)
Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight
Just let me rock you 'til the morning liiiiiiight
It's cold outside
And much too late to driiiiiiiive
You know I need you baby
I'm so lost without your love
