Sorry about the face. The term "gangsta" just does something to me. Nah, Mos Def is a pretty eclectic cat. He even fronts a rock outfit with members of Bad Brains, Living Colour, and P-funk. He and Talib Kweli released an all out classic under the moniker Blackstar. Definately hip hop with a conscious, heart, and Brain. Not to turn this into an infomercial, his 1st solo joint( Black on Both Sides) is pretty hot as well.

Yes, but there's some rock thrown into the mix. Some of the lyrics are bitter and brooding. Definitely a dark album. "Black On Both Sides" was a lot more up. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently | |
