I love Nelly Furtado. I was going to start an "Opinion Clipboard" thread on her. I have both of her LPs. The last video I've seen by her was "Powerless," but I love the "Força" single. The Armand Van Helden remix of that song is great. Had a lot of fun over the summer with it.

I hope she releases "Picture Perfect" as a single.

I desperately want to see her live.

I saw her live last year here in NY (at Town Hall I think). It was a pretty good show. I thought she put on a better show when I saw her for the first time at Irving Plaza when she was touring in support of her first album. It might have been because Irving Plaza is general admission so people were closer together and giving back more energy. Town Hall is all seats so people there tend to be lazy and not move around so much.

She's awesome in that the first time I heard her I wasn't impressed and then "Powerless" came out, I bought the album on the strength of that single and soon I was a fan.

I'm sure she'll put out another album...she has staying power and many fans around the world, even if MTV and the like in America don't play her much.

What I'm feeling is that she actually had a world tour for her last album which didn't do well commercially. I believe she played small venues that catered to her decreased fanbase but still...

I really like the feel of her new album. She has a great energy. I wasn't much into the first album. But it seems like a lot of people in the music industry like her. I mean, she's either worked with or been remixed by The Roots, of course Timbaland & Missy, Paul Oakenfold, Junior Vasquez, Roger Sanchez, Jurassic 5... and of course my favorite song with in it with Juanes "Fotographia". I don't think she's going anywhere. Its probably just America that doesn't think she's marketable enough because she's not showing her ass to the whole world and she's not singing shit songs written by a thousand different writers and producers.

After just putting her cd in again I looked at her website. There was surprisingly a little Prince mention:

"The first son that ever swept her away was a tune by an earlier fusion-minded soul, Prince. The sond was "Power Fantastic," which Furtado encountered on a friend's mix tape. "I has never head anything like it," she remembers. "I think it was so beautiful vocally; it was so very lush and gorgeous, his voice. But at the same time, the level of emotion was high."

Fusion-minded is a very appropriate adjective for her and Prince. Their styles both defy simple categorizations.

To be real, America is showing her love. Maybe it has something to do with her label and them not promoting her singles properly. When her debut record hit, "I'm Like A Bird" and "Turn Off The Light" were in heavy rotation on MTV and VH1. Plus, "Turn Off The Light (Timbaland Remix)" and "Get Ur Freak On (Remix feat. Nelly Furtado) used to get a lot of play.

Even "Powerless" got rotation, but after that she just suddenly disappeared. I don't know what happened?
