she probably thinks she has. the problem with what Britney and Christina picked up from Madonna is that they just saw the "sluttiness" without any of the reasons behind it. sure, selling records was one of the reasons, but it didn't turn out that well for Madonna, and she did have other things going on behind that whole phase of her career. something thought out, a point to make. these girls only see the surface of what that was about and are emulating the crassest part of it without the brains behind it.

I was thinking that you were somehow comparing "Erotica" to in the zone. For my money, "Erotica" was Madonna's second really great album but was shot down becuae of the videos, "Sex" book, "Body Of Evidence" (and possibly later, "Dangerous Game") movie(s). It was a time where it where Madonna's career was not peaking even though she released possibly her best, most adventerous album. As much as I like Britney's music, I don't think that will ever be the case with her. She doesn't have an "Erotica" in her.

Brit is definitely entering a "new" phase of sorts 'coz I read on MSN that she and her long-time manager are parting ways. In fact, he apparently found out that his contract wasn't being renewed through a news leak. This is PURE speculation, but I have a hunch that her new husband will probably end up being her manager.

I've started to look at Britney's carear being closer to that of Kylie.

Her first 3 albums ... Baby One More Time, Oops... I Did It Again and Britney follow the same pattern... and as she got more control of her carear she started to sex it up a bit.

Same with the first three Kylie albums Kylie, Enjoy Yourself and Rhythm of Love.

Where's as Kylie had Michael Hutchene open her eyes to the world... I guess Britney doesn't really have a guide other than umm Maybe Madonna or her new husband.

I think In the Zone has more in common with Let's Get to It than Erotica.


I think maybe it's time for Britney to find a new direction like Kylie did with her deContrstution era.

Just do crazy ass music collorbations and find herself and maybe return in a few years with an album as good as Light Years or Fever.
