Especially not now. He didn't show up to gigs, and to top it off, his former bandmates have formed a new group that is becoming quite sucessfull. We are now reminded, more than ever, that Slash was just as important to the Guns sound. Axl's group is G&R in name only.

Adding to all this, the only reason I was even remotely curious about the new Guns was Buckethead. Now that he's left the project, what's the point???

i am still very curious to hear this "chinese democracy" album if and when it ever comes out. I mean the man has been working on an album for 10 years! I hope it's a master piece.

You can't expect that he has been actively working on it all that time. And if he has, he has been getting rid of the older tracks.

What I want to know is, is he really a complete redneck like some of his lyrics would suggest....."only some niggers", etc... I remember in my youth hearing that lyric or something like it in one of their songs and from then on I didn't listen to their stuff.

But it saddens me to a degree because they were some good albums I used to have on tape....and I've been considering buying their catalogue on CD.....but it's the whole racist thing which turns me RIGHT off.

Anyone have any defence for Axl in this case?

I certainly don't, the heterosexist nature turned me off back in the day too. He's still a great performer I think.

I can't defend him but it was very difficult for me to hear that song when it came out because i loved that band. I thought, and still think they are great. He has appologised in the past for those lyrics but I don't know how sincere it was.

How come no one cared about the racist lyrics they discovered from Eminem?

.....but there were also people who couldn't wait! Axl had been hiding for years, so a lot of people were into it. Mostly older fans of course.

Axel had his fifteen minutes, his model wife, and all the drugs he could get his hands on. I don't think he deserves a second chance either. I will always enjoy the earlier days of G n' R and his contributions. He blew it. He is now infamous.

Not a chance in hell. It's gonna take miracle for Guns & Roses to get their respect back.

I see more of Guns & Roses in Velvet Revolver anyway.

Does it?
I think his problem is that he is afraid to release a new album, because people are expecting so much.
I think he should just release it and see what happens.

That's EXACTLY waht he's been doing. He's been holed up in a studio, working on various tracks and changing the album configuration about 1000 times now. He keeps "polishing" tracks, but is scared to release them. At one point (around 1999) he was about to release the album, but then saw the terrible response the song he donated to the End Of Days sountrack got. He pulled the album from the relase schedule, and went back to work on it again.

It was almost released again a couple of years ago, but then the whole VMA thing scared the hell out of him (his performance was widely ridiculed). He cancelled his tour, and once again yanked the album from release.

Axl, you're such a wuss!
