What Does Tina Turner Think Of The "Whats Love Got To Do With It?" Movie? I would like to know what Tina really thought of the movie. I do not believe she has ever commented. Anyone know?

She sang for it, and appeared at the end. I hope she'd like it. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Last time I heard her speak of it she had never seen the finished product because it was too difficult to watch. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

how would she know if she never saw their interpretation? I don't think she needs to see the film in it's entirety to know what happened in her life story. My understanding was that she hadn't seen the whole film for obvious reasons. That was many years ago, maybe she's seen it since then. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

The reason why I posted this is becoz the movie credit says its based on her infamous autographical "I, Tina" but its ISN'T.
For examples: 1.Tina had her 1st child by a Kings Of Rhythm memeber(sax player) not Ike. He was only her mentor then. 2.In the movie, she gets to know to Buddisim by her so called "friend/ex-Ikette" Jackie. No sign of Jackie in the book. She was introduced to Buddisim by a Jewish girl who was one of Ike's mistresses and then learnt the rest of it from her friend Anna Maria. 3.The infamous scene where Ike showed up at the Ritz with the gun NEVER HAPPEND. Ike & Tina both said that they haven't met each other in 30 years(right after their divorce). Ike dismissed the scene by calling it a "Hollywood gimmick" and that he was already in jail of drug possession at that time. I haven't read the book b4 but after I did, the movie seemed like another "Lady Sings The Bluse" flick. Both movies are terribley unaccurate.

I read parts of the book awhile ago and noticed the inconsistencies. Made me wonder about the film although I enjoyed it when it was out and still get caught up in the musical performances. I can't get sick of her "Proud Mary" pre4mance and I always have goosebumps whenever I watch the intro of "A Fool In Love". Angela Basset really got me, it takes a TRUE acting talent to dig deep into the character without imitating her.

I know he hates the movie

I think I remember Tina saying that she wasn't interested in seeing the movie because she already "lived it". Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I recall.

In real life(at least thats what she admitted in the book) she said that she wasn't a good mother and when she left Ike, she left her kids with him and flew right to Europe to do her thing. Its different in the movie, where she runs to one of her children's rescue with them warning her that their daddy is gonna kill her. Looks kinda sansualizing & abit cliche to me

That "Fool in Love" scene is my favorite. Angela made me want to beat Larry Fishburne's (Ike's) azz. Excellent acting. azz-wuppin' edit [Edited 10/7/04 11:05am] Filthy cute and baby U know it

Recently, I read her mother passed and she was upset to see Ike at the funeral. She asked her family,"Why? You know how I feel about him." They indicated to her that they still thought of him as family even though htings didn't work out with him and Tina.

That's my recollection as well. The movie is BASED on the book. Some elements were changed or excluded to move the story along. That's pretty typical when books become films -- whether factual or not. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista
