At least Michael Jackson can sing. He is or was a truly great singer, what madonna can do? And billie Jean alone is better than all madonna songs together.

I like Elton, but he needs to take a chill pill. He disses Madonna, yet praises a homophobic hack like Eminem? He's turned quite bitter, and that's sad. I will always respect him for his musical accomplishments, but this is just silly. Elton is an incredible musician, no doubt about it, but he's hardly the end-all, be-all voice of rock & roll.

No, Madonna isn't nearly the musician that Elton is, but that doesn't mean that she isn't influencial. She's an incredible performer, and she always has her finger on the pulse of the underground. She sees a cool subculture, and brings it into the mainstream, all the while putting a Madonna-esque twist to it. She knows her strengths and weaknesses, and plays to those strengths. She's certainly not in a category with Prince or Stevie, but I doubt even her most hardcore fans will claim that. To just dismiss her outright for not having that level of musicianship is really. Anyway, isn't it ultimately apples to oranges?? Madonna is a DANCE MUSIC artist, while Elton is a crafter of thoughtful, introspective piano tunes. Two different things no doubt about it.

Oh, and as for the whole Bernie Taupin thing. Well, Elton has written plenty of songs without him (and many are quite good), but his best songs come from that collaboration. I mean, listen to "Daniel" or "Candle In The Wind" and then listen to "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" and tell me which one's better.
