For all you Yoko bashers:
Give me one reason why she's worse than Bob Dylan.

as bad as Dylan's voice is, it aint nearly as bad as Yoko. Jedi hit the nail on the head when he said she sounds like a cat in a blender. also, Dylan sings about real stuff. Yoko's lyrics are just plain bad.

cartman "its all a buncha tree-huggin' hippie crap".
In my own way, I am the king. Hail to the king, baby!! chainsaw

1. Yoko was a unknown "performance artist" when she met John, and her worldliness and exotic look put the final nail in his forced marriage to his wife.

2. She didn't break up the Beatles; however, she was a pain in the ass girlfriend that John forced the others to deal with 'cause he was so whacked out on heroin and pussy.

3. The most creative thing she has done in her life is to manage the money John earned to make more money. Oh, and to be famous for being famous (a la Paris Hilton).

4. She's just another bloated tick feeding off the creativity of others.

ouch!

I love John Lennon, but i think Yoko screwed up some of his songs!!

I bought the Toronto video. I liked it, until she started to " scream"

As a person she's ok, but please YOKO DO NOT SING (or whatever that noise is called)
the beautiful ones, you always seem to loose

those who are judging Yoko by early material, including the Toronto performance, are only being exposed to a small part of what Yoko does. Most of her output is more traditional "songs" that are frequently quite good, always interesting, intelligent and sometimes amazingly powerful. Yoko is not an easy sell, but she's worth the investment smile

She is just not a singer, even her later work wont do.... Look she is an artist, but i doubt it if she would have been this famous without meeting John Lennon.....

Nobody is debating that. She was way too ahead of her time to be popular and, despite having gained massive popularity in the clubs recently, for many people this is still the case. Only through Lennon's platform did she become famous, but it's a good thing she did.

exactly. She would be unknown today if not for John.

People say Yoko isn't a "singer". What does that mean, exactly... is Tom Petty a "singer"?

How about Bob Dylan?

or, Courtney Love?

Tom Waits?

Leonard Cohen?

Yoko's voice can be beautiful and sublime when needed. It's always a little off-kilter, and that is part of its charm. Would we really rather trade someone like Yoko, who is pushing the envelope constantly and making consistently fascinating music, for a "singer" like, say, Jessica Simpson? If that is the case, count me out. We have enough "singers" singing cookie-cutter pop with no feeling, depth or personality. Yoko is a visionary artist, and if she had a normal, radio-friendly singing voice it just wouldn't work, or click. Yoko is who she is.
