TLC in the rock & roll hall of fame? Do you think they belong, if so why. Personally I do, not base on albums sales but for their originality and the impact they had on the music biz. Not sure what the criteria is for indution and I know it's a long way from now before they're even consider. So org what's say you. Hall of fame or not.

But that annoying ditty was named one of the "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll". So if they do induct TLC, they may as well induct the Dixie Cups. [Edited 9/26/04 18:35pm]

and what impact on the music biz? Their last three albums (3D, Fanmail, Crazysexycool) sold a combine 22 millions copies. (I know I said albums sales should not be the criteria but you asked) and that's an major impact. Not to mention their potential was endless Lisa unfortuate death brought an end to what many people believe could have been the Ist all female group to threaten the Supremes and becoming the greatest Female group of all time.

Methinks they were on their way out, with or without Lisa. Their time had passed.

True indeed. to get into the RRHOF your first album had to come out 20 years ago. "Thinking like the Keys on Prince's piano, we'll be just fine"

But with no tour and and their record company pretty much giving up on them the album just die. Also there's not a person in the RRHOF that does'nt have an album or two that flop.

No, not Yet even though rap is like almost 40 years old. but Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five are nominees this time around. "Thinking like the Keys on Prince's piano, we'll be just fine"

Some Hiphop acts with records released in 1979 I would not nominate:
Sugarhill Gang: "Rapper's Delight" (Sugarhill) Funky 4 + 1: "Rappin' and Rockin' the House" (Enjoy) Sequence: "Funk You Up" (Sugarhill) -While these are all landmark JAMS within the genre, I wouldn't consider their careers as shaping the landscape of the likes of the Rock'N'Roll hall of fame. Even though they are all original cats, and had alot of firsts (Funky 4+1 first hiphop act on SNL, or whatever it may be). Some Hiphop acts with records released in 1979 I WOULD nominate: Grandmaster Flash & the Furious 5: "Superrappin'" (Enjoy) -More so for representing Grandmaster Flash as being one of the 3 godfathers of the genre, and also for the breakthrough "The Message". Kurtis Blow: "Christmas Rappin'" (Mercury) -first rapper signed to a major. I think that is significant in itself. I consider alot of Kurtis' output classic. And his popularity lasted ALOT longer than you can say for alot of those first-generation hiphop acts. Run DMC didn't pop until 1983 so we'll just have to see in 2008.

No.
TLC isn't worthy of being in the R&R hall of fame. They haven't really shown any substantial growth. They are pretty much an act that was born, bred and peaked in the '90s. Their later LPs were very, very dull. After CSC, I pretty much tuned out from them.
