Tuesday Purchases: What did you get today?

I got:

Cannonball Adderley (feat. Bill Evans) -- Know What I Mean?: I am already loving this album immensely. These cats make great music together. Their collabos with Miles must have contributed to the great chemistry.

De La Soul -- The Grind Date: Just dropped today. I haven't even gotten 1/3 through the album and I am already open. "Much More" and "Church" are worth the price alone. Plus with collabos with Common, Ghostface, and MF Doom? That's sick.

I went to Best Buy to pick up Jon B today and they said it wasn't out yet. Has anyone else seen it in stores today??? I ended getting Talib Kweli's The Beautiful Struggle.

I'd get this album just for this song. I remember when they performed it on the first season of Chappelle's Show. I am so captivated by Yummy's raspy voice...she really makes that song shine, IMO. love

I didn't get any music! I tried to pick up "ClassiKhan" at Media Play in exchange for some old CDs. The retail value was only $2.38 or something but they allow you to trade for a new release but they didn't have it. They said once they get it, I can come back. So I'll wait.

So far I bought "Farenheitt 9/11" and "What's Happening" Season 2. I almost got the new Korn greatest hits but decided against it and am happy with that choice.

Yeah, she used to be in a group called Tha Rayne (the same girls that sang in Jaheim's "Fabulous"). That girl's got some pipes!

I'm in your head, evillol

I love Cannonball. Ever since picking up Something Else, I've been a fan.

I am sure you have THIS one, but if you don't, knowing your penchant for jazz vocalists, this one would be a delight for you:

I don't have "Mercy" but I do have The Cannonball Adderley Quartet In San Francisco, which is a jewel.

Ok, here're my purchaes:

Ray Ray-Raphael Saadiq

Looks like a good haul for you.

Yeah, that's right. Lemme tell ya De La is probably the most slept-on hip-hop group around. Ever since their landmark "3 Feet High," heads have ignored them, for the most part, especially since the mid-90's, when they dropped Stakes Is High, and then later, the AOI joints.

This was my only purchase today. Love those layered vocals. smile

Though she's one of my absolute favorites, I didn't pick up Chaka's new album. I listened to it and didn't fully like it. I'm sure I'll get it eventually, but it's just not high on my list right now.

I think this album will grow on you. I wasn't thrilled with it at first either but soon you'll like it if you like the singles. All the songs really feel like singles when I hear the album. In fact, many of them were singles in Europe and I think did rather well there but only about three songs from "Up!" will be on the greatest hits CD. The first three singles, I think. The "big" singles if you will, although "She..." and "It Only Hurts..." broke the charts, I think.

"Stakes" was the "Rebel Without A Pause" of its day, although not embraced. "Baby Phat" was a good track off that album, which wasn't as good as AOI Part I but unfairly maligned in some ways.

Muse2NOPharaoh

I went all over the map lately

Enya geatest hits
Joss Stone The soul Sessions
Michael Mcdonalds greatest hits
Third Day

Enya was as expected... Joss was not... Good stuff but not what was expected... as for McDonald I really wanted more of the Doobies hits.. but nice relax music... As for Third Day... I haven't liked this one nearly as much as the past selections.

Canned pineapple, some toilet paper and pantyhose for my mother cause she was in a hurry herself. Man, was that an embarrassing moment handing out them at the cash register.

boxed

Seriously, the toilet paper was so cheap I was very worried some people might see that I have to use something so substandard.

A bargain dvd of Madonna's first movie, "A Certain Sacrifice".

I want to pick up the new Marianne Faithfull and the Bowie box set that supposedly came out, but can't find them anywhere.

Same here.So far,I've watched two episodes...the "Gong Show" episode, and the "Rerun gets married" episode, which features Irene Cara.I'm thrilled that Season Two also contains the infamous 2-part episode where The Doobie Brothers make a guest appearance.
