Johnny Cash, "The Collection"

has anyone seen "the Collection" series of CD's? i think they just came out. they're 3 complete albums by certain artists, and next week, they'll be on sale at Best Buy for $14.99.

i just got the Johnny Cash one because they'd put up the sale price early. it's got "At Folsom Prison," "At San Quentin" and "America."

excellent, excellent collection for a very good price.

the others i remember them having were Bruce Springsteen, Janis Joplin, Aerosmith, Willie Nelson, Celine Dion, Santana and a few others.

cool, though i already have the JC titles ya mentioned (except for "america"). are these the three-for-two boxes i see around sometimes? those always look so cool to me, but it always turns out i have one or two of the discs in the box. i think i saw a nick cave one that had all three that i didn't have, but i didn't pounce on it fast enough and someone else bought it. sad

there's a fourth disc that came out this year which is a companion to those collections - it's called "life", and the songs were hand-picked by JC just before he died. it's an interesting disc...it's probably the most upbeat collection of cash songs i've heard (aside from the inclusion of "man in black", of course).

i LOVE "Love, God, Murder"... and a special thanks to Anxiety for suggesting it to the person who bought it for me. I just saw "Life" for $9.88 at Wal-Mart, and I'll be getting that as well

"life" is really interesting...JC selected the songs as a "guide to life" for his fans. i find it really telling that the songs he chose were mostly really happy songs - in my opinion, it sure goes against the image of him as a kind of dark, solemn songwriter.

Early one morning while making the rounds, I took a shot of cocaine and shot my woman down, shot her down 'cause she made me slow... I thought I was her daddy but she had five more...

I've never heard of such a thing but it sounds interresting, especially the price. Thanks for mentioning it.
