And you like Madonna. rolleyes Can I laugh at you for that?

In another post on this thread, you state that people need to realize that everyone has different musical tastes, and then you turn around and make comments about me liking Metallica, and how they're crap. shrug I don't think there's anything wrong with not understanding others tastes in artists, and I'll say so too if I don't like a particular band/artist.

No worries, I know you only like their earlier stuff. smile

"Checked ur profile, any single band that u like that arn't "hip" by the way? U "sort" of "i only like cool, hip stuff that is credible" gets on my nervs....."

S/he asked if you had anything but ultra-trendy bands in your profile. So I suggested Metallica was the chink the armor. I wasn't laughing at you.

And, yes, I'm used to getting laughed at for liking Madonna. Especially on this board.

Meanwhile, you're busy giggling away because a non-Radiohead fan (how could that be?) liked some Joey Lawrence once.
[Edited 10/5/04 4:45am]

Yeah, I "got" that part of the post. I just don't happen to think that who I happen to listen to is necessarily considered "hip". confuse There are many I list in my profile that I don't know ANYONE in real life (not on the org) that actually listens to them. So how is that "ultra-trendy"? It's just the music I happened to grow up listening to. shrug

And how could anyone NOT giggle because someone liked Joey Lawrence once? It defies logic. I just giggle publicly about it, and don't keep it to myself.

In The Light by Led Zeppelin. Musically it's haunting with it's droning keyboards and chord progression but lyrically it's really uplifting.

Liking Joey Lawrence is no more serious a sin than taking Lars Ulrich seriously. If you want to laugh at other people's disposable pop, then expect people to disagree with you (especially about Radiohead, which a lot of people believe is a hugely overrated band) about your tastes, however trendy or non-trendy they may be.

Well, to me that is complete and utter bullshit, but that's just MY opinion of course. It's ok though if you want to be outed in this manner about your own appreciation for Joey Lawrence, since you seem so adamant about defending him. As for Radiohead, I am well aware of the fact that many people think they're overrated and/or despise them. I could care less, because I can deal with that. I don't even list Radiohead in my profile, as I like them, but they're not one of my favorite bands.

But I'm still going to laugh if someone admits to liking Joey Lawrence, because it just comes naturally. I'll laugh if people like Britney, or New Kids on the Block, etc. That doesn't mean that I don't get snickered at myself for some of my guilty pleasures. It honestly doesn't bother me that much.

Just to Keep You Satisfied - Marvin Gaye

That's not haunting, it's just the BEST Break-up song ever and too me the best song on that Album. As well as a true SOUL SOng that craps all over anything that's released now.

AMAZING Song. Forget that,,, I will stand and say that it's the best SOuld song Ever.

Now that I think of it,, that fact that it's so good is kind of Haunting.

MARVIN GAYE LYRICS

Just To Keep You Satisfied

(Marvin Gaye/Anna Gaye/Elgie Stover)

You were my wife, my life, my hopes and dreams
For you to understand what this means, I shall explain
I stood all the jealousy, all the bitchin' too
Yes, I'd forget it all once in bed with you
Ooo darling how could we end up like this?
Oh baby let me reminisce

Oh and when we, woo, stopped the hands of time
You set my soul on fire, my one desire
Was to love you and think of you with pride
And keep you satisfied, oh baby oh baby
We could not bear the mental strain
Leave you, I laugh at men too
Now you see how much you hurt me
But if you ever need me, I'll be by your side
Though the many happy times we had
Can never really outweigh the bad
Oh I'll never love nobody like I loved you baby

It's time for us to say farewell, farewell my darlin'
Maybe we'll meet down the line
It's too late for you and me, it's too late for you and I
Much too late for you to cry
It's too late for you and me, much too late for you and I
It's too late for you and me, much too late for you to cry baby
Ah we tried, God knows we tried
Now it's too late to live and love and ah it's too late baby
It's too late for you and me, much too late for you to cry
Oh oh ohhh it's much too late
Well, all we can do is, we can both try to be happy

This last section is amazing,,, and so minimal.

I'm not defending Joey Lawrence, I'm defending the guy you bitched at for his musical tastes. Acting as if someone isn't qualified to have an opinion simply because they like so-and-so artist isn't cool.

And Lars is a worthless tool. wink

Bitched at? I wasn't even responding to him initially. I was responding to Cloudbuster. And there you go being the hypocrite again, "bitching" at me for liking Metallica. rolleyes Everyone's qualified to have an opinion of course, I just don't feel the need to keep quiet if I don't happen to like a particular artist/band that someone else does. I don't care it it's "cool" or not. Why should I? I'm just expressing my opinion as well. Why is it ok for YOU to point out that Lars is a worthless tool, and not ok for ME to point out that Joey Lawrence is cheesy?

The Metallica thing was a joke, so you could see it from the other end (I already explained this in a previous post). Hence the " wink " about Lars being a tool? rolleyes

P.S. Name one really shitty pop song you ever liked just so we're on an even keel next time you laugh at me for liking Madonna.

Ok, I'll name one....let me see....I liked Color Me Badd's "Sex You Up". I never really liked cheesy pop songs in the first place, but I always get laughed at here for liking Journey's "Don't Stop Believing", though I wouldn't call that pop at all.

oh wait, there are tons of cheesy pop songs from the 70s that I liked. I don't think I could list them all. I was thinking 80s and 90s mostly.
