She was a really soulful singer with roots firmly planted in the old school. Being friends with Chaka Kahn, a few of her tunes were recorded by Rufus I'm A Woman (I'm A Backbone) appeared on Rufusized. (this tune was also cover by Joi on Star Kitty's Revenge) At Midnight (co-written with Tony Maiden) originally appeared on Ask Rufus. The Message in the Middle of the Bottom is on Chaka. According to reports, the night after Lomie passed Chaka Kahn performed an emotional version of I'm A Woman at the Monterey Jazz Festival as a tribute to her lost friend. This is a picture from a show that we did together at the Roxy in L.A. around '80-'81.
