Never in million years would I imagine that I'd like a Shirley Bassey song one day till I heard Chaka's rendition of "Diamonds Are Forever".

One thing about Chaka's remakes, she RE-WORKS them to the point where you don't think about the originals.

She sho as hell made me overlook Lady Day's "The End Of A Love Affair" when she remade it.

I'm actually going to get it but for a good price. I'm trading in five old Cds that were only worth like $2.50 but Media Play will trade them in for a new release. However, they never got hte CD in! Grrr....

You're right about her remakes. I just got her 1982 album on CD and on it she remade MJ's song "Got To Be There" and she sho gave MJ a run for his money cuz it sounds better than his version (my opinion).

Chaka never disappoints. Even when her voice was out when she was singing with Kanye on the MTV awards, she still didn't and plus she's entitled anyway, cuz I ain't never her sound like that before.

Her version is the most intense rendition since Ella sang it in the mid-60's IMHO music

The bitch recorded the album in 4 DAYS only. And from what I heard, that ought to shut every dumb motherfucka who thinks that she's singin' off-key. End of story.

Can you tell me whose album it is on? I downloaded it once on a different computer.I believe it was a collaboration with another jazz artist.

Got that right, she reunited with one of the Echos Of An Era musicians.

Mr.Joe Henderson's "Porgy & Bess". Great album too, highly recommended(Nothing like the other Gershwin's tribute albums which consist of milkey fluff on top of milkey fluff. This is the REAL shit right here nod).

The only thing that I don't like about the album is Sting's presence which is brief thank godness barf

I love Chaka, but she needs new material, rather
than covers.

She is a soul legend that deserves much better.

Mr.7...I do see where you are coming from...what producers do you think that Chaka should work with? I say..Raphael Saddiiq...maybe D Angelo and I think that Prince could give her one or two GOOD songs.....

Mr7

Raphael and D'Angelo would be pretty good.
I think the 'Roots' drummer Ahmir would give
her the right sound. And Prince too of course,
'Come 2 My House' was a good album.

I would like to hear her work with female artists such
as Angie Stone, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu as well.
Contemporary artists that are of a high calibre.

I saw Chaka live in London on the 'NPS' tour and she
was amazing, a real force of nature. Her voice made
my hair stand on end. My whole body went cold. She
really doesn't get the props she deserves.

Peace
Mr7
