Funkentelechy vs, The Placebo Syndrome
Can't go wrong with "Bop Gun (Endangered Species)," "Sir Nose d'Voidoffunk (Pay Attention - B3M)," "Funkentelechy" or "Flash Light" [Edited 10/19/04 7:26am] | |

Very good question. I bought Mothership first. Even though "The Clones of Dr.Funkenstein" was released in between these two albums, "Funkentelechy" REALLY sounds like it was the follow up to "Mothership". Not only the songs, but the mix, the playing. George, Bootsy, Bernie, etc., was always recording. Always. That would fit George to space that shit out. He knew they had a bonafide hit with Mothership Connection, so to stretch it, he stuck "Dr. Funkenstein" in between. Man, I REALLY LOVE "Mothership Connection" album. All my life. BUT, "Funkentelechy" is hardcore funk. "Sir Nose", "Flashlight" is so fonky, it's silly. This album took "Mothership" to another level, which really showed how bad these cats were. They could really fuck you up! I mean, they had the hardest o.g. gangsters running in the street, in front of cars and shit. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Damn, you cats are taking it back! Reminds me of my high school days. I have to go with Funkentelechy for "Flashlight" alone. One of my Top 25 albums of all time. I still have the comic book that came with it!

Yes it is. Good album, but not on par with the other two. U could see George and the gang were starting to come apart. Spreading themselves to thin. And the drugs. Although the same year, they released "One Nation Under A Groove" as Funkadelic, which was a great album. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
