What's the worst cover of a Prince song?

What's the worst cover or recorded version of a Prince song? There have been some truly terrible ones but for me it has to be Tom Jones' version of "Kiss".

I hate this guy with a passion! mad Whenever he performs a song on tv or whatever it's always Kiss. Anyone would think it was his song.

He is repusive and yet thinks he's God's gift to women! He can't even sing without struggling for breath and his face goes all red as he gasps and wheezes thru the song. mad

He is nothing but a sad, ageing, has been who still thinks he's trendy and is desperately hanging onto the coattails of other younger, hip performers just to make himself look hip and trendy.

If I saw him in the street I'd have to run across the street and punch him in the face!! Grrrr! mad

The absolute worst cover is LeAnn Rimes' version of "Purple Rain" and this is the third "worst cover version" thread in a month. Since Bart/Kelly isn't here anymore, someone has to tell you to look it up first! wink

I completely agree...Leanne Rhimes version of Purple Rain makes me wanna puke.

so far any cover of any Prince song has been horrorfying to me.
Write it yourself or stay away from the master, that is my advice to the 'artists' ...

She's Always in My Hair by D'Angelo

(Don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some D'Angelo, but I HATED his version of this song. It sounded totally boring and uninspired.)

The Pointer Sister's 1982 version of "I Feel For You" is terrible.Too many cheesy synths, making the track sound horribly dated.

Oh My God!! I saw D'Angelo in concert twice & when he performed that song I loved it so much I felt like I was cheating on Prince, but I didnt care!
I love D'Angelo's version!!!!! Sorry Keisha!

I hated the other version of Kiss, I do not like "If I was your girlfriend" by TLC ! Nope, not havin it!!

I really don't care of Alicia Keys version of "How come you don't call me anymore".. it's ok, but I had some kid at -work heard me listening to my Prince CD (The B-Sides).. Ran over to my desk talkin about ooooh you're listening to Alicia Keys, that song is the bomb! I said - ALICIA KEYS - what the heck are you talkig about - this is PRINCE!!!
He had NO IDEA that she re-made a Prince song.. I was so disgusted!!

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but here goes. I was reading The Source magazine today. TQ, an artist on Cash Money Records (he's on a thugged out R&B tip), has done a remake of Adore! To me, it doesn't matter who does it, you just can't touch a song of that magnitude. But for this particular person to do it (and not a D'Angelo/Maxwell tpye) is terrible. Hopefully it won't be released, and if it is, hopefully it won't be too bad.

Mariah's cover of "The Beautiful Ones" was a MESS. Prince should have slapped her for doing that.
