I'm with sassy and a few others, they sold their soul to the "watered down, changed, older-and-wiser-with-money music" devil and their PR run along with their group therapy movie is obviously helping them rebuild their revelancy.

According to this thread, it's working pretty damn well.

They were a good band up until the black album which was the beginning of a slower, mellow and not hungry anymore Metallica.

Oh yeah, if you only want the positive opinions don't post a thread on the internet, the world's here and they will be heard, deal with it.

Metallica eh? ... it seems like everyone has something to say about them. It's obvious that most Metallica fans seem to prefer Kill, Ride, Puppets and Justice to anything they've done since. (So is this in the same vain as Prince as with Purple Rain to Lovesexy?) They did change as from the Black album on wards but it was they who almost single handedly created the whole thrash metal scene, and pioneers do not go back on themselves. I'm greatful to them for all the music they've created and inspired. The people who slag them off for going soft have to remember that there would not've been any thrash/death metal scene without them. I'm not licking their ass, in fact they piss me off now, but who have to give credit where it's due!!! I wonder what their reaction would be if they found out the they were being talked about in such lenght on a Prince web site!
