Toni Braxton Stars In Her Own Sitcom Braxton Pacts With WB For Sitcom
The WB Network has teamed with Toni Braxton to develop a comedy project starring the Grammy-winning R&B singer. The 20th Century Fox TV show will be loosely based on the R&B star's life. Braxton will play a version of herself in the project, which will focus on how the singer balances career and family. As in her own life, the members of Braxton's extended family on the show will be very involved in her life. As a producer, WB entertainment president David Janollari had pursued Braxton to do a TV series for years, including approaching her to join the Greenblatt Janollari Studios comedy "The Hughleys." "She is a superstar in the musical world; she is a really elegant, sophisticated and beautiful person who I think will light up the screen with her charm and her personality," Janollari said. Janollari knows a thing or two about successfully translating female R&B/hip-hop stars to television comedy. As an executive at Warner Bros. TV, he was instrumental in getting the Queen Latifah-starring Fox series "Living Single" off the ground. As a producer, he and former partner Robert Greenblatt developed and are executive producing the UPN sitcom "Eve," named after its rapper star. Braxton released five studio albums for Arista, with combined U.S. sales of more than 13 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Last year, she signed a new deal with Blackground Records. -- Nellie Andreeva, The Hollywood Reporter

I am glad to read that she signed with another company b/c she was in dire straits money wise when Arista dropped her. At that time, she was having her first child. I wish her and her husband good luck. She is married to a cousin of Terry Lewis. Her husband was in the band Mint Condition.
